Agree with your last two statements OldSchoolCamaro. It's sad about the Hyundai. My wife now wants that.

Some day, more than two people on this forum will actually show appreciation for change AND not judge unknown outcomes based on their own assumptions.

MRC and this thing is gonna run with the boss easily.

Wow, a lot of info of specs except the ENGINE :paddle:

This needs to be just like the concept. Taking an SS, adding the ground effects, blackout hood, blackout grille/light area, MRC, ZL1 brakes, ZL1 exhaust, and ZL1 shifter/steering wheel make this car a winner. Leave out those performance bits, and my exciting turns to disinterest.
|
I think the 1LE competes with the Mustang GT Premium with Track Pack. The Boss will have to deal with the Z28. ZL1 and GT 500 go head to head.

It seems like no matter what GM does theres always going to be some people complaining :iono: can't make everyone happy! ;) |

All I know is GM must be VERY happy with it for them to target the Boss LS......
|
Don't get me wrong. I like this car and may end up with one but what was all that talk asking us if we would accept the 1LE "EXACTLY" as the concept was presented. I'm really hoping that we don't have all the info but the four piston Brembos have me worried. MRC was the top option I was looking foward to.
|
I have to say I would be very happy with those side skirts and front splitter on my Camaro!
Nice looking package tho, that's for sure! |

We didn't even we were getting this until today. |
People will be disappointed if mrc is not at least an option.

It's awful interesting to me the conclusions a person can trick themselves into drawing. There's nothing on that sheet that seems like a big red flag saying "I'm slowwww!!!". Unless I'm completely glazing over that footnote. :iono: Keep in mind the place where the ZL1 gained the most ground on a Boss LS around a track was the corners. The power difference had much less to do with things than one would think. So....I don't find it all that difficult to see how a lighter, stiffer, similarly-shoed Camaro couldn't come awful close to that level of track superiority...even minus the MR. This is a performance package, after all. MR was chosen for the ZL1 to offer superior road manners AND handling. It might just be that the 1LE-spec suspension has no considerations for comfort...you wouldn't need MR. Just ramblings...until we know more than this rumor - I think it's a disservice to the car, and the team to automatically assume it can't perform. :( Keep the faith.... ...that it will perform ...that the people building it aren't idiots ... |
I am in. I will buy one as soon as they are available, assuming a price for a 1SS 1LE around 40K (hopefully a little less). It is 230 lbs lighter than a ZL1, and so a few engine mods should get it around 500 HP. With the 3.91 axle, it should be plenty quick for less $$$$ than a ZL1.
|
Mmm tasty
|
I'd have to agree that this is no Z28. To be a true Z28 would require much more than a short throw shifter, some bigger sway bars, exhaust, and a bunch of unnecessary accessories to be a Z28. It would take the time and effort they put into the ZL1, all they did was slap ZL1 parts on an SS.

We need an option to order it with an LS7 427 Motor !!!!!!!!!!

This is the Grand Sport of the Camaro lineup. Nothing more. I'm starting to think we won't see a Z28 until the 6th gen. And I'm not all that bothered by that.
|
I'm guessing this will be around 41-43k...bit more than the standard 2SS but not within the regions of the ZL1.
|
I'm really liking this car, as much as I want a ZL1, this is more in my price range.
Also, just thinking aloud. With the differences in final drive, trans gearing and tire size. 1-2 gear will be pretty much identical between the ss and 1le, but 3-4 will pull much harder. Can't wait for further details. |

JP, have anything to add? |
Definitely not a Z/28 :popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn:

I will add this one last note....if I hadn't ordered my ZL1 already...and this was...oh, July 2012 - where both are available? I'd have a REAL hard time deciding which option to take. And I think the more we know about the 1LE, the more I'll feel that way. |

I was always the kind of person better suited to limited options...if that happened...I don't think I'd know what to do with myself.
I guess I should just be thankful they chose an "all of the above" approach with the ZL1... |

We're damned if we do and damned if we don't -- the intent is to allow the customer to tailor his or her 1LE to the way they'd like it. You may not like the RS package - but others just MAY want it....... So.........I'd rather 'err' on the side of allowing people to choose options. I don't see that as a "fail"........ |
