Anyone have the Footwell Lighting Kit Installed?
Wondering if anyone has installed the Ambient Lighting Footwell and cup holder kit?
1. Was it easy to install? 2.Does it match the blue lighting in the doors? 3. Does it turn on automatically when dome light is on or with a switch? 4. Does it light up the cup holders? 5. Is it worth $200.00? Haven't heard to much on this dealer installed option. |
Last time I checked, GM obsoleted the part # before it was released.

That's too bad. We have the footwell lighting in our 2010 SRX and after seeing it I was thinking of picking up the kit for my Camaro. They have done an AWESOME job with the ambient lighting in the SRX - on the doors(all 4), across the dash, footwell, rear seating, and even a hidden light up near the garage door opener that lights up the shifter/cupholder area.
Also handy are some lights on the bottom of the door that illuminate the ground when you open the doors to get out. Ambient lighting adds to the "environment", and it is nice to see it being added to the new vehicles.. Can we get a retrofit for our dash GM? Please? I'm not good at the DIY... |
AACStyle has a good one also that u can order through them or if you wanna take the drive to Louisiana they can install and do other things, but i have heard happy reviews from customers that had them install things....i plan to drive down there a month or two after i get mine

I did it! AACStyle rocks. Check out my Garage for the full Halo install and footwell lights. I did it all in Amber (Orange) CCFL. They look so good!

CamaroScotty, I have the kit in hand from a supplier in California. Ordered from C6 Corvette Performance. Part Number 92213222, cost $39.95 plus shipping. 4/29/10. Would like to know if there is any detail information in which a plug is available under dash or console for this kit.

On the 2SS you could tap into the purple/black wires that are under the kick panels. This is controlled by the ambient lighting. So if your headlights are on, your footwells are one. If not, you could tap into a yellow/black wire. That is your instrument panel lighting. A good one I found was the traction control switch. There is a lot of room under that panel, and easy to get to. I believe there is also a yellow wire that goes into your doors in the kick panel area. There doesn't appear to be any actual open plugs in the passenger or drivers side areas. So I'm thinking this kit may have been suggested to have a plug and play wireharness like the gauges have. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1497888 |
The new part number, compliments of gmaccessorieszone.com, is 20971891. I found it today, 6 April 2011. I've been contemplating buying and installing it, but I'm afraid I may screw things up.
