i never really liked T tops and i dont think it really works on the new camaro. the cars modeled after a first gen and so i think it should stick to coupe or ragtop. but hey thats just my opinion. its cool what can be done with photoshop though.

My favorite is the last pic by bob with the t-tops. If they have a ttop version I will DEFINATELY be getting it. I love my t-tops. Lets face it, the camaro was pretty much the only car offered anymore with t-tops...Can you imagine all the disappointed customers when it's announced that the t-tops won't be coming back? It almost always looks better in person, so I'm sure the real thing would change a few people's minds.

Now I just wonder which would look better, glass t-tops or t-tops that are the same color as the body of the car?

Yeah, I like t-tops and all. But not on this model. I agree with Tag 100% that the roof lines add definite muscular proportions to the car. To smooth it out, just wouldn't look quite right.

I was looking around on CamaroZ28.com's board and found this post from a while back by one of their Photoshop boys. Personally, I think this looks AWESOME! He made the rear a hatchback like the 3rd and 4th gens and added the ttops... I'm stunned! :eyebulge:

I wouldn't mind T-tops which are not glass, but are the metal roof material. This would keep the lines of the coupe, but once removed would also give the open air feel. I had said I like the single removable piece like the vette, but two removable tops would be cool as well.

To be honest I don't like the hatch look at all on the 5th Gen.

I think they should keep the look it has now (original) and make it a hatch that way. Much like the Scion Tc, it appears to be a normal trunk, but the rear window lifts with the trunklid like a hatch.

TAG UR IT 04-17-2007 02:36 AM

Don't like the hatch idea either. I really want a trunk. Seriously. I can finally put all my valuable items in the trunk and not worry about some peckerhead peering in my windows checking to see if there's something he can steal.

Sure thing, there ya go...

I could deal with it as a hatchback, but Id rather go with a real trunk.

keep it like the "futuristic 1st gen" that it was made to be lol

No hatchback!!! Aghhhh!

Nice photoshopping...you guys/gals are good at this stuff.

The first one posted is good work, but looks odd because too much of the roof was removed. Similar to the 2nd picture by Guy With The BowTie.

The 1st picture in that post looks far better. However, I think the back pillar needs to be reworked for the T-top...they'll have to create a B-pillar right behind the door/window opening and move the quarter window further into the C-pillar. I think that would make it look better. Plus, that's the only way to reinforce the roof enough to pass crash testing and such.

Those last few pics by Bob look great...I will have to see it in person of course, but so far, I'm leaning towards the T-tops.

Keep up the good work though, you guys/gals have some great photoshop talent.

Ruining the lines....

As for ruining the lines of the car, I don't agree, but can see the point. The easiest way to fix that...make the T-tops out of the same material as the roof...doing that allows for the body line to be molded into the panel and then is retained when the panel is in place. As I mentioned in another post, if you do the panels in the same material as the roof rather than glass, you save on the weight issue.

So, keep the body lines, keep the weight down, and still manage to put t-tops in as an option (which as someone said, if you don't like them, don't get them)....pretty much makes a Camaro available for everyone doesn't it? Okay, except those who want a hardtop convertible...but, talk about adding weight, a hardtop convertible would add hundreds of pounds...

I still say reinforce all the hardtops like you would with T-tops, then make the entire roof out of aluminum (since it would have to be the main structural piece, more or less, just a skin) (carbon fiber would be better, but way too expensive), offer the t-tops as options, and make them out of the aluminum too. This would help keep the weight down over the entire coupe lineup. The convertible has its own problems due to the nature of the beast.

By the way, that talk about raising the roofline (what was it 15mm from what the concept has been showing)...think GM is creating enough room for a power sunroof maybe?

I hope so. If a large sunroof is not an option, I'm going to have to go aftermarket. I'll probably  when they cut my baby's top open, but there are some EXCELLENT quality aftermarket options out there.
