so no inferno orange with black stripes?

So does anyone know if there will be more of a customized stripe option than just two colors? That inferno orange metallic almost needs black racing stripes to dress it up, the car looks too plain without them. We need the concept camaro convertible paint scheme on the coupe!

I don't know, it says white or grey stripes. What about black stripes?

I agree, the Inferno NEEDS black or white stripes.

The_Beast_ 08-17-2008 02:07 PM

White and cyber grey are the only FACTORY options. A lot MORE colors will be available from DEALERS.

Xanthos 08-17-2008 02:38 PM

Which means that the dealer stripes will (most likely) be vinyl bits added on when it hits the lot, whereas the factory ones will either be (more likely) painted on or (less likely, because why not just use all colors at this point?) vinyl bits added on before the clear coat. Either way, its one of the major reasons I'll be getting cyber gray stripes. Plus, I think they'll look great on a silver car.

The factories will be the same as the dealerships. So I say be an individual get it painted. Like me.

I think its still to early to speculate but I hope to see more stripe choices. I'm guessing though that even stripes applied at the factory will just be vinyl on top of the paint. The 30th and 35th anniversary cars were nothing more than vinyl stripes and to keep costs down I bet it stays that way.

Theres no way in hell that the factory stripes will be the same as the dealerships. If they were, why wouldn't they just offer all of them from the factory? The dealership stripes will not be paint, that I can guarantee, so all the factory would have to do is lay down a different sheet of vinyl. The factory stripes will be better than the dealer stripes - theres no chance of it being otherwise. Whether they will be as good as a custom job, well, thats to be seen - however, they will certainly be cheaper.

Even if they factory stripes are vinyl, they'll certainly put them on top of the paint but under the clear coat. Dealer stripes will be on top of the clear as well.

The stripes on my 30th are above the clear and so are the stripes on the 35th... so I'm not so sure even factory stripes will be under clear. I think we'll just have to wait and see.

Xanthos 08-17-2008 03:34 PM

Well, the IROC lettering on my 86 was under the clear... Dunno, maybe that was just something they did on the fourth gens to cut costs since sales were plummeting? Anybody know if the factory stripes on the mustang are under the clear or not? That would probably give a good indicator...

It was said by FbodFather & Scotty that dealers will offer more color choices than factory. And I dont see why the stripes would be different between factory and dealers.

CatiaJockey 08-17-2008 04:45 PM

You can bet that the dealer will not put on a stripe that is not authorized by GM. I'll bet the quality is the same whether it be dealer or factory.

yeah i think that is the best way to go because all of the factory colors suck as it is. im getting mine custom painted any ways so its really no big deal for the stripes. and ill prolly just buy it in white so its easier.

The concept convertible has gray stripes. I know the infreno orange is different, but gray on orange looks awesome on the concept!

JEFF2010SSMANUAL 08-20-2008 08:32 AM

I want a bright orange, but I saw a Colorado in Inferno METALIC orange and I am not sure I like it? I would rather have a bright NON METALIC orange. And it does NEED black stripes.
