Camaros with M6 transmission still being produced?

There have been several threads about problems with the M6 transmission and also threads about cars with a TPW of 6/29 not being produced (mine being one of them).

I just looked at the spastic squirrel database and the first thing that I noticed was the most of the cars are automatics. I did a quick count on the first 3 pages and only about 16 of the 150 cars are manuals.

Seems like there is something going that has not been fully acknowledged by GM.

That maybe why I am still waiting.

Hopefully they move back to a USA factory to increase the quality. If UAW would pull there heads out of the sand for a moment and match the Mexican labor cost.

The Oshawa plant is one of GM's best in terms of quality, the problem is with supplier parts...your comment makes me angry

You misread his post, the tremecs are made in mexico if im not mistaken. No reference to you canadians.

a member's M6 broke on the 29th and GM acknowledged the problem with the output shaft. It is possible that the M6 Camaros scheduled for production before the shutdown were delayed due to this new issue which apparently requires a new tranny and if so, consider yourself lucky that your SS with M6 tranny did not get produced before the shut down.
I would think it would be a lot more hassle to get a broken tranny while driving, tow to dealer, wait for new tranny, etc. etc. compared to accepting GM is now aware of the issue, dealing with the extra week delay at the factory and get a car with a corrected tranny. If your car got produced just before the shut-down, likely, your M6 car would be sitting and being held in QC at this point waiting to go back to the factory for the tranny fix. Consider ourselves lucky!

Yep

I think they are starting to be held in QC maybe they are addressing the issue finally.

What I'm thinking is what ffrcobra_65 said maybe they got all the new parts during the break last week!... That may be why some of yall with the manual tranny got pusheed back to 7/13??.....

But I hope they got it fixed!

Just my .02

i'm one of the unlucky, mine was built 6/25, now i gotta wait in QC for em to fix the problem. kinda sad, but better them find out than me, i got patience.

chevyridinghigh 07-12-2009 12:12 PM

wonder if 7/13 tpws will have to go into qc as well..

1fine79 07-12-2009 12:28 PM

Totally agree with ffrcobra_65's comments. I had a invoice date of 6/22 with a due date at the dealer of 6 Jul for my 2SS/RS 6M VR baby. However, on 11 Jul when I talked to the dealer he informed me that my Camaro had been held for technical issues. I assume it is due to the M6 tranny problem. Much rather wait and have GM fix the problem before i get the car than get the car and be without it while it sits at the dealer waiting parts. Good call GM.

FLYNNZL1 07-12-2009 12:51 PM

I hate to wait, but its better to get my Camaro in perfect condition.
