Camaro5 Fest?

Is anyone gonna make the drive to Phoenix next year for the 2nd annual Camaro5 fest?

VictorySS 09-25-2010 12:39 PM

Thats a long drive out there, i think ill wait till they have it a little closer to the east coast

cm5217 09-25-2010 12:50 PM

we need to look into tranports for the cars to see what that would cost I am in just need to plan it right

Phase V 09-25-2010 12:54 PM

unless I'm in Phoenix by next year I most likely won't go

cm5217 09-25-2010 01:09 PM

I just got an online quote for shipping the car to AZ it was 800.00 so i emailed them and asked if we filled a truck would we get a group rate and asked for a quote for a full truck from the DC area to AZ. Will let you guys know what they say.

HopeRidesAlone 09-25-2010 02:59 PM

i heard a group in florida is doing the same i might be interested im not sure if all the funds are there and how is that for a round trip transport?

thesnoopster 09-25-2010 04:14 PM

The transport thing sound cool... but is that for round trip??? ... I went last year and we had a blast. So im still undecided...but thats the same weekend for Super Chevy Show @ Dinwiddie.... so right now its in the air for me :iono:

I bet the drive would be fun...but thats like approx 2300 miles .... still debating....

Rob191288 09-25-2010 04:23 PM

I would be interested in the truck too depending how much it is, I want to go this year since I didn't make last years, but if it comes down to driving would like to have some other camaros going as well.

Rob191288 09-25-2010 04:34 PM

Looked into doing a Uhaul but its gonna cost about $1700 one way. :(

cm5217 09-25-2010 05:41 PM

the 800.00 was for one way I know sound like alot but if you really think about it with gas food and atleast 2 nights in a hotel thats going to be about 5 or 6 so is it really alot?? but then we have to think about air fair too so i am just in the planning stages. They did email me back and said that they dont own any of the trucks so they would have to price the cars individually. But they did say i could call them and talk about it so i will call next week and see what i can work out. if you do a search there are alot of car trasports so we can call a few and get the best price.

When I moved out here from SoCal the average rate for a car transport was 800.
I was unsuccessful in finding a lower rate
so I ended up driving out here. It's a nice drive but long.
Still debating this one.

thesnoopster 09-25-2010 08:13 PM

Terry I am thinking about it as we speak.... I will definately let you know what we gonna do :)

thesnoopster 09-25-2010 08:16 PM

I really want to go ... but its the drive thats got me thinking ... but then I also look at it ... the Canadians drove from Canada and the folks from north drove all the way to Ga. it can be done if planned well. Like Chris said... its time to plan early ... im still up in the air on this.

Blackhawk6 09-25-2010 08:29 PM

Ok, You know I will go..so just let me know...

Dedlydragoness 09-25-2010 10:03 PM

Wow, sounds like a great time, but so far away. I def don't want to drive my car all the way out there so transport would be the way to go. Only other thing I can think of is trailoring the cars but then you would have to drive a truck.

Infern0 09-25-2010 10:28 PM

Way to far and expensive this time around. Sucks cause I missed the last one too when I thought THAT was far.

I'm in the same boat. Didn't make last years cause I thought it was too far
still debating this one and my wife doesn't really want to drive that far
made the trip once before so I can't feed her any bs on this one

Rob191288 09-26-2010 09:43 AM

I'm thinking about it too.

jonm38 09-26-2010 01:09 PM

I am unsure of going. Haven't done those types of drives for many years. Did them in the 1990's 2200 miles.

LWM 09-26-2010 01:24 PM

A long haul from Va...........................especially with no shotgun! This will take a lot of consideration. It may take a day to recover upon arrival in AZ.

Blackhawk6 09-26-2010 02:12 PM

Doing the planning now...

Route from Virginia will be:

Southbound Interstate 95 to Interstate 40 Westbound

Interstate 40 Westbound to Halbrook, AZ

From Halbrook then Arrival in Chandler, AZ

2,311 Miles

rdblan2 09-26-2010 02:42 PM

Sheesh, that would be more miles than I've put on the car since I've owned it! :sm0:

CaniacFan 09-26-2010 06:19 PM

For us on the East coast, that would mean we would have to leave on Wednesday, right - in order to be there by Friday? That's going to be 5-6 days easy.

I, like last year would be a last minute late entry as I won't be able to commit until the Hurricanes are eliminated from Playoffs of which Round 1starts that week. Aarrrggghhhh.

I'll keep checking in with you guys! Had a great trip to CF1 with you guys, would love to join the Camarovan again next year. Lori

camaro2lt 09-26-2010 06:24 PM

a couple of people in pa and ny are thinking about going maybe we can meet up with you guys if you go

Thanks Lori. and yes that would be the plan as to leave early Weds Morining and we would use Rest Areas as the meet place for anyone wanting to join the caravan from Virginia to Arizona..

Blackhawk6 09-27-2010 07:59 AM

Lori, after looking at this more it looks like Tuesday would be a better departure wednesday would be pushing it and we would still be traveling on Friday.

From my house it would be 1107 miles to Little Rock, AR that is 15 hrs at a 70 mph average then another 18 hrs to Chandler, AZ arriving on Friday midday.

thesnoopster 09-27-2010 09:16 AM

If I go, I am hoping my bad knee holds up duirng the drive LOL

CruznSS 09-27-2010 10:12 AM

Let's see, 2,400+ miles, 5 days+ away from work, and a chance to show those on the west coast that the EAST Coast can hang even after driving 3 days. I'M IN! Just have to get 2 weeks off from work!
