With the mods to my V6 that I'm planning, i should be able to put up a fight. We will see.

GM needs to get them into production. Right now all we can do is say Chevy's ad copy is better than yours.

I always lurk on the Mustang forums and laff to myself at their overall disdain for te 'update'. Some of them still have hope that the 400HP 5.0 Coyote engine is coming in 2012, but most see the writing on the wall and realize that Ford isn't really interested in the HP wars; never has been and never will be. The way I see it Ford is content offering an underpowered competitor from the factory whle keeping it cheap and getting high sales volume. It's a formula that's worked for years (a Mustang for everybod) and I don't see why'd they change it now. And no matter what FoMoCo fanboys will have you believe that 5.0 engine is gonna cost $$$ and subsequently raise the price of the Mustang which doesn't follow the business model for that vehicle.

:word:I can't wait to go destroy some Mustangs on the streets after all the talk of Camaro superiority. :grayvertshift: Oh and it is hilarious to see what the blue oval boys have to say about the stang update!

What the heck is this all about?

SOS Post Crash Alert System (Activates when Airbags deploy, Emergency flashers turn on, Engages horn and Doors unlock for quick exiting)
What good does all this do????? Ford's better Idea than On-Star crash alert I guess.

They offer a charged version of the 2010 Mustang that gets around 400.

Black5thgen 12-29-2008 01:31 PM

They only offer the superchrager through Ford Racing, don't know if it voids the warranty.

Ha ha.....I might just have to go to my local ford dealer and have them price out a new mustang with all their listed options. Then when it comes up to a higher price than the camaro tell the saleman "no way...for that kind of money I'm going to get a camaro" and walk out the door:clap:

StoutFiles 12-29-2008 01:43 PM

I don't think it does since Ford is actively pushing that fact to keep sales. Not that I care what Ford does with the Stang, just setting the facts straight. If people want their '10 Stang to beat a stock SS, they can. Now if the SS decides to start modding...well, that's a different story.

Ive been a pony car guy forever, driven camaros and mustangs since I started driving. Looks like its gonna be like it use to be, the camaro outperforming the mustang in the hp department. Nothing new there, but it does go to show you that thats not what sells these cars. True the enthusiasts like us that is a big consideration but the majority of the buyers are really gonna consider the whole package. With that being said, 315 sucks and is pathetic. Ford should have never quit making the pushrod motor. Chevy stuck with it and is now reaping the benefits of perfecting it. Me, I'll take the 422 horses thanks.

My high school buddy has a 2003 Mach 1 that is really a nice car. I have enjoyed taking it out a couple of times myself. When he got it he immediately put CAI and an aftermarket exhaust on it, trailered it to Detroit to have someone reprogram the chip and is now getting 350 HP at the wheels. I haven't told him about my getting the SS Camaro and won't until I tear up the pavement outside his house. Although I still have a lot of respect for him and his car, I do plan on asking him if he will sell it to me as a winter rat, as mine will never see snow!

Long Live Camaro!

Yep the 4.6 V8 in the mustang is pathetic, But Ecoboost is right around the corner, and we all know how easy it is to increase Horsepower from turbos by simply increasing the Boost. 2010 is going to be a looooooong year for the mustang's blind loyalist. But I am personaly interested to see Ecoboost capabilities.

Captain Awesome 12-29-2008 03:16 PM

Wreck-o-boost isn't going to be cheap to make... price goes up then!
