when i had my first car in high school a then lowley old 80 malibu coupe that was gray. I called it Gray Ghost, after a character in a episode of Batman: The Animated Series.

i missed that car

when i got my first 'new' car a 3 year old Ford Thunderbird LX with a 4.6 V8 (same motor in the 96 to current mustang ;) ) it was blue, so i called it Bluebird.

this car was fun, a total sleeper, V8 power, same transmission as in the Ford Police Interceptor, and IRS in the rear end with the rear gears from a Super Coupe 'bird. alas it was totaled in a rear end collision back in 2003. I would not mind getting another of these 89-97 birds as long as it has a 8 under the hood .

Well, I kinda wanted to keep to the assembly heritage of my car and keep a spark of my personality. I named my car after after a combination of an Australian movie and a song I used to blast in my '79 'Maro…

Priscilla, Queen of the Highway

I named my SS "Alexis." When my wife asked, she about had a heart attack. Guess who left her for "Alexis" years ago........ouch. Had no idea. oops.

Hadn't really come up w/ anything else since.

I call my Impala the Pimpala for obvious reasons

I don't think I've ever named a car....

I'll be the first to admit that I talk to my cars, about every day:rolleyes:...but I've never named them...

I'll admit that too.
If you dont talk to your car, you have some issues. If my car is acting weird, i just talk to her and calm her down. My cars are always girls too.

Wow, I feel better now:) , I do the same with my truck, . . . though I think it's getting jealous, cause I keep bring up the Camaro word on nice days:laugh: . But as far as name? Na.

I've never named a car, and our family hasn't done much of it either. Normally any name is usually a descriptor of the car such as The Brown Car (it was a brown 80's something or other), The Beast (it was a blue 80's something or other with a bad exhaust which made it sould beastly. It was sold at a garage sale), The Puddle Jumper (little hatch back), The Blue Car (90's dodge something or other, will not reveal colour). After those, the cars have pretty much been refered to by their manufacturer or model The Buick, The Saturn, The Cirrus, etc.

Never named a car, more to the degre mentioned above what with a describing name. If someone say The Black Car, everyone knows it's the old Pontiac Valiant that my dad used to have until the early 90s. He'd trimmed it with a V8 and a better autmatic transmission and most of all completly renovated the interior in red leather. And it was indeed black. Most other cars have been reffered to by make and model (the 740 for the Volvo 740 and so on).

I think while I would kind of want to name my Camaro I don't think I will since I wouldn't be able to decide whether or not is a male or female. On hand it will have some power and it looks kinda mean so there's the male bit, on the other hand it's got some sexy shapes and I sure will love running my hands on it once in a while, most certainly the interior. So I'll probably just end up calling it The Camaro or My Camaro. Each said with a grin :D

Never named one of my own but when I was a kid my dad had a burnt orange 68 dodge charger r/t. One summer the fuel pump was going out and my mom would talk to it and call her bessy whenever it started chugging along. Seemed to work until she just wouldn't start and dad HAD to replace the pump. He Sold her to a state patrol officer when I was 14 1/2. I was so mad I didn't talk to him for about a week.

Emher 11-12-2007 04:22 AM

^Yeah I had about the similar reaction when my dad sold The Black Car when I was about seven. I loved that car!

My first car was the Metallicar, for obvious reasons...

The only other car I've named was my mother's gray Toyota Corolla which I had to drive when my Camaro stopped working. I called it the Grannymobile because it just reminded me of an old woman's car.

My first car was a 1989 Chrysler LeBaron Convertible, It was silver with a black top, had the 2.2 Turbo motor in it. I called it Jawz. :)

I do the same thing with my cars, by that i mean talking to them.
