Saw this link cross posted over on GMInside News. Claims that the convertible will be produced and for sale the first quarter of 2011.

That's almost 2 years from now.........two years is a long way off. I bet Obama has the Camaro down to an Electrical Vehicle by then.

Maybe mine will be out of Area 51 by the time the droptop arrives in showrooms.............but I doubt it!

i heard this originally then it was on for april 2010...
can i at least get a showroom ready camaro convertible picture to see if i even like the way it looks with the top down?? i know the concept vert looks good but i don't know if the new dimensions will distort that look and give it a nasty new chrysler sebring convertible look...yuck http://z.about.com/d/alternativefuel...onvertible.jpg http://i719.photobucket.com/albums/w...aroconvert.jpg http://i719.photobucket.com/albums/w...vertible-p.jpg |
Not really new news. Somewhat consistant from what we know it was just too much to get done on the first YM (year model).

As far as the Z/28.. I really really think that they are strategically waiting for the hype to calm down.. give it a couple of years, then smack us with an attempted re-emergence in the Camaro with the return of the Z/28! Just a thought but I believe it to be true. |

or we better hope the volt gets 100 mpg to tip the average in our favor |

Please don't consider this to be political....but the Obama/Pelosi/California consortum is going to prevent any Z28 type of vehicle from being built in the future simply by the new regulations that are coming out. It will not be cost effective for GM to build a bigger and better hot rod in the future.
Grab your SS Camaros up right now while they are still available. The gas guzzler tax will apply to them in the near future, and they will eventually be a rare commodity. The handwriting is on the wall on the issue of non green cars like this. GM will not have the freedom to determine what their product lines will be when the government takes the control of the companies as is projected. How many of these cars will they be able to sell if they all have a $20,000 gas guzzler tax on them? Actually there is no need for the feds to do anything to ban them. They simply have to make the gas guzzler tax high enough to prevent the buyers from spending the cash to buy them. The model lines will die out on their own with nobody buying them. There is nothing on the books that would stop that from happening. |

I'm fine with the 'vert coming out a little later. I need to pay off the Sol before I get the Camaro and that should be around summer of 2013. So right in that timeframe I should be looking at a new 'Maro 'vert.
That will give them time to work out kinks in the top mechanism and for the dealer hysteria to die down. |
