Mantic 9000 not holding power

I know this is the FI section, but i figured only FI guys would have this issue. My mantic 9000 sprung street cerametallic is slipping at 700wtq range. Its suppose to be rated for 1010ft lbs. Anyone else have any power holding issues with mantic clutches? My input shaft was recently replaced from a slight bend which we thought may have been the cause of slipping before, but still slipped again.

It'll be all the usual questions.

Is it installed correctly, are you sure the release bearing is not being pressed against the fingers at rest ( if you can get a small camera in there to ensure the slave/release has adequate free travel to move back as the clutch wears etc )

Other than that, some clutches seem to be a crap shoot, some hold far beyond their rating, some nowhere near it and there seems to be little consistency.

The guys over on the Vette forum seem to praise the Mantic, but then you get small groups praising most type of product...then others who get only misery from the same one.

I've been through it all myself, and still none the wiser as to what clutch is best.

Mantic suggested the clutch needs freshing up and are sending rebuild parts to the shop. No clue how much it costs for rebuilds, but hopefully it does the trick. Clutch has around 10k miles on it. Maybe 25% of its life was abused, give or take a bit. Ill update after rebuild.

Shop called today and said that they noticed an oil leak at the rear of the motor, they are gonna pull the trans to see the culprit. I am curious if they oil leak could be the culprit to the clutch spinning on the dyno at higher rpm.

Certainly if there is oil on the plates, it wouldnt help

No issues with mine. I think the weight of the camaros beat a lot of clutches up that aren't a RPS triple.

I was told that a Mantic wouldn't hold my power with the weight of the Camaro when we were looking at going 1k plus... it is a nice piece though... I went the RPS triple and never had an issue til we planned my current power level... then I graduated to the quad... Oil on the plates would certainly reduce the holding power...

+1, Manic didn't hold, but the RPS triple is thumbs up, Camaro is 700 to 800lbs heavier than a Vette.

Same here on the Monster triple lt1-s, waiting for mine to deliver also. I have heard nothing but great things from people that have them. :headbang:
