Carbon Driveshaft

Hello friends,

I liked the QA1-driveshafts, but have now been told by QA1, after an email request from those, that they would not offer a driveshaft for the Z28.

Is there a matching carbon-drive shaft for the Z28?
Does anyone have experience with a carbon driveshaft on a Z28?

They don't have one listed but can and will accommodate your request. Reach out to them. They tailor drivetrain components frequently

I've been thinking about a carbon driveshaft too 47Ronin. Keep me updated with what you find out and maybe we could share postage costs. :)

Thank you, Jon.

I read on the internet that the driveshafts of all Camaros from 2010 to 2015 should be identical. Is that true?

If that's true then would have the driveshaft of QA1, which is offered for the SS and ZL1, must fit the Z28 too, right?

SS, ZL1, and Z/28 have different differentials. Speak to driveshaftshop.com, they'll inform you correctly

Yes, I wrote them. Wait for an answer.

Please look here under "fitment":

Jegs thinks it fits the Z28 as well.

What do you think about that - are they right or wrong??

I do not know info about driveshaft fitment from car to car...

But to clarify.... QA1, who themselves, make the make the driveshaft said 'no'... but you're second guessing them because a distributor lists it as 'ok'. Sure man, spend $1,500 + on getting it over to Germany and it not fitting. Order those 'racing' spark plugs too.

I had written yesterday with QA1 and just now I discovered this at Jegs and was wondering about it - that's why!

JJ-21206 / JJ-22206 will fit according to QA1 and I have one but haven’t had time to install yet. I’m also a QA1 dealer, PM for a price if interested.

I also have spoken directly with driveshaft shop and their GMCA10-C fits the Z/28 along with 2010-2015 manuals. Am a dealer for these as well but prefer QA1 as it is a bit lighter.

Thanks
Doug

Doug, are you sure it fits?
Exactly after this part no. I asked QA1 yesterday. The answer was that they offer only for the SS.
"Our engineers have said that the Z28 and ZL1 are the same but that they use a different hardware size than our SS drive shaft", he wrote.

Do you know the weight difference?

It was about 0.5-0.75 lbs between the DSS and QA1 from memory.

Wouldn't our cars be closer on the trans and diff setup to a 2015 1LE ?

Mark Williams also makes them. Mark Williams makes the shafts that Pratt & Miller fitted to the Z28.R race cars. I imagine they are not cheap :)
