I encountered this issue. For me, I disconnected the solenoid that holds the key in place. Can't recall the specific process, but I know that it was easy, quick (15-30 minutes), and didn't require me to order any parts. I haven't noticed any issues as a result of the change.


If you do this, make sure that nobody ever pulls out your key while driving. It'll supposedly lock the steering wheel in place.
