I understand your position as step parent, and it's a tough one. I've always had clearly defined expectations for my son and he's followed them.. no problems. Previous relationship had little or no rules for his daughter and her behavior reflected it. It was hard on my son having a dbl standard in the house. I had no say in what his daughter did or didn't do, and she knew it.
