Trust me, its a shock absorber. I'm aware the online parts stores call it a strut, but the service manual and official gm parts manual call it a shock absorber. The service manual calls the front a strut, and while I haven't had to go toe to toe over the warranty for it yet, my service guy said they may deny it if it also leaks because the GMPP warranty may class the cartridge as a shock absorber. Hopefully it hold out and doesn't become an issue.
