DIY: PDIM + USB Port installation

I installed the PDIM and USB port on my 1SS. I haven't yet got the software update so the radio doesn't recognize anything I plug in there.

The instructions that come with the PDIM are pretty good but the pictures aren't always clear so I took a few to help out.

Tools Needed:
9/32 socket/driver
Small Flat Blade Screw Driver
Optional: Needle nose pliers

Note: On an automatic you need to have the gear shift in D to do this and have the E-brake on.

1) Lift up on the console top cover and disconnect the wiring harnesses for Traction control, power socket and gauges. (Use something to pry it up if you cant get it with your fingers)

2) Remove the four screws fixing the gear shift to the center console. (They are in the white plastic parts)

3) Pull the center console side trim on each side outward to release the clips and remove the trims.

4) Remove the screws on each side of the console rear end cover. There should be 2 on each side. (move seats forward so they are visible) The instructions say to remove the armrest as well but I did not have to do that to proceed)

5) Disconnect the wiring harness from the aux jack and power socket. Release the clips on each and push them through into the console compartment.

6) Remove the screw at the front of the center console on each side.

7) Remove the screw just behind the gear shift in the center console.

8) Remove the 3 screws at the top rear of the console

9) Carefully lift and work the console over the gear shift assembly and remove it. Note: For automatics you need to release the 3 clips that hold the gear shift assembly to the base. (The clips are white plastic and a bit tough to release)

10) Disconnect the wiring harness near the E-brake

11) Remove the 2 screws at the rear of the console that fix it to the floor of the vehicle.

12) Lift from the rear and remove that portion of the center console

13) Remove the existing wiring harness from the part removed in step 12. (It is clipped in, you do not need to cut any tape etc)

14) Install the replacement wiring harness using the built in clips.

15) Clip the PDIM module into this console part.

16) Connect the 2 connectors to the PDIM module

Now you are ready to reinstall the console and close it up. You will need to insert the USB plug and Power jack after you get the console portion back into the car. After that make sure you hook up the 3 connectors to these items.
