Yup, that is correct. When I changed the diffuser out, I had the 4 inchers the Solo kit comes with. It "fit" but the tips were not centered, they were high (pressing against the heat sheilds) and outside (pressing against the heat shields). I imagine you would encounter a similar issue with the stock ones. Plus i think the stock "trash can" mufflers would really be visible in the wider openings. I dont think it would look that good. You could rock just the splash guards I suppose, i think i saw someone here who did it and it looked good.
