So with what was found with the needles bearings a decision was quickly made that we needed to drop the pan. Also knowing that the transmission was coming out for the converter instal it made sense to go ahead and pull the block out completely.
So did some more research on trunnion upgrades and gave C.H.E. a call and ordered a set of their bushings.
Took the heads to GPI to get the new springs put on & the valves looked at. Aaron checked everything out and thankfully nothing was out of whack. Also swapped out my intake for one with a rod-mod while I was there along with a new pick-up tube, 0-ring and oil pan gasket.
While the block was out we pulled the pan and found 1 needle bearing. Removed the oil pick-up and found the remaining needle bearings sucked up against the pick-up screen.
Put in a new pick-up tube, o-ring and pan gasket before putting the block back in. We also put the new cam in and front cover back on while the block was out.
Put the new converter in.
Got the block back in, trans bolted up, new B&M deep pan and ADM trans cooler all installed.
Had the rockers taking a bath while doing this.
