his makes a lot of sense, didn't check which tires are available at 315

have you weighted the entire weel+tire to compare?
I've not done in the last 15 years, but last time I compared 15" and 16" on my hondas I found out that tire is actually pretty heavy and there was not much gain to go to smaller wheel

I mount and balance my own tires. The 19" factory front with a 315/30/19 Falken 660 is easily 5+lbs heavier than an 18x11 Apex with a 315/30/18 Yok A052. I don't have an exact weight but you can pick them up side by side and it's very noticeable. Some of the weight is from the tire as well, and you can't get the Yoks in 300+ for a 19" wheel.

Had Trofeo Rs on the car and crashed it unfortunately driving to Cars N Coffee at 7 am in 30* weather mid April (liftoff oversteer got me merging onto the highway). They are about the best DOT track tire you can get but not street friendly in the Northeast where the roads are cold every morning from Oct til June. Moving to PS4S for street and getting a dedicated set of wheels for new Trofeo Rs for HPDE.

RE-71 finally back

Bridgestone has finally come to their senses and added 305/30-19 to the Potenza RE-71RS lineup. This and a 285/35 are the 285+ widths available on 19" wheel for RE-71. Tire Rack is suppose to have them at the end of May. Much awaited alternative to the Falken RT660. The Falken has worked well for me through two sets, but I'm looking forward to going back to RE-71s.
