Cammed SS running hot?

2010 Camaro SS running at 217 when idling in city, this sound normal? I have a 160 stat, tuned fans to come on early, installed Mishimoto radiator, still getting high temps. Goes down when moving and getting air over the rad, but just worrier about the engine.

You're good. Mine hits 210 on avg. even on highway. Just use good oil. If you're really worried you can have the fans turn on sooner/longer.

I think your fine too. I have similar mods too & the 3200 might be a bit tight in traffic. You can always try burping it again incase there is an air pocket.

This, I had a bubble in my system while running at Indy, temps would spike like crazy and then come right back down.... Many experts claim the engine should run between 195 and 220 degrees F.

Thanks fellas, got me worried since I just got the head gasket replaced. Everything is making me anxious about the car now haha

Welcome to the mod game. Since my engine blew, I constantly check for noises, temps, pressure, etc etc.

You aren't in any danger, temp wise. But its definitely higher than mine runs in Florida with a 160º stat and cammed/tuned engine and earlier fan activation.

I typically won't hit over 200º very often. I cruise in the 175-185º range, and normally idle between 192-200º. I tend to think mine runs a bit cooler than it should, but I have seen others with same/similar mods running the same temps. Most likely culprit is an air pocket, as these cooling systems can be a bit of a pain to properly purge.

InFiD3ViL, I went to a cars & coffee event Sunday & was right in your range. 13 miles each way, 75 degrees with a lot of stop & go. I am not concerned but you don't want them too cool either.

I run a 180 stat & fans on at 207 & off at 195. Never goes over 208. My car seems to run its best at about 190-195.
