4th gen engine removal
If you havent been aware, the transmission in my 94Z has been pretty much shot for a while now, and after my recent acquirement of my original first car, my 78 Camaro...aka Christine. I decided it was time to let Candace (94Z) go on to other things.
after having her up for sale for a while and a bunch of texts, pm's, and emails, I could not find a buyer for the car as a whole, but I had numerous people wanting parts. so, after calculating the costs to remove the parts and ship/deliver vs selling the car as a whole, I decided to start pulling. a bunch of stuff has already been pulled and sold and a friend of mine upstate said he wanted the motor to put in his truck. so I went out to pull the motor today....using the reverse process of how the motor was installed... thru the bottom. and after everything was said and done..... I'm in a little pain since the car still had reverse, I figured I'd back it up onto the trailer to tow to the auto shop. well, that started out as a hopeful endeavor. come to find out, with the rake of the car, the front end sat just a little too low....and while backing up onto the trailer, the left header was getting caught on the trailer lip. "well," I thought to myself, "I'll just reach up there and push on it a little to move it" yeah... dont ever do that. here's why.... stupid mistake. I honestly cant believe I let myself do that. I was rushing myself and not taking proper precautions. Needless to say, I grabbed a 2X4 out of the back of the truck and pried the exhaust up and wedged the board under the tire to hold the exhaust. then I started backing onto the trailer again... only to find out that the extremely low stance of the car was causing the car to drag the k-member on the trailer quick fix... mash the pedal. did a little reverse burnout, but got the car on the trailer finally. towed it over to the shop just as a friend finally showed up to help me... dropped the car off and went home for the night. came out today and started working. pulled off the hood pulled the battery from here and put it over here jacking the car up! look at that suspension travel... Jackstands. safety first! ridin low pulled the LTCC ignition kit off draining the coolant pulling the coolant hoses, cooling fans, radiator, and a/c condenser moved on to the headers getting empty MAXIMUM STARTER!!!! regular starter pullin a wheelie! front and rear tire side by side getting the car higher!!!! strappin on the chains! pulling the k-member and after some work, the engine is out pop the subframe back in.... and drop her back down

What a shame a nice car like that is being parted out. It actually looks like it was in good shape.

body and motor wise, yeah it was in great shape. needed some paint, but dont they all? and a new windshield, and new carpet, and door panels, and a new dash, center console, headliner, and more. Transmission only has reverse. its been down for a while now and its time for me to move on.

i'd almost entertain the idea of selling them to you. but I'm waiting on word from the guy whos buying the motor to see if he wants them with the radiator. or if I can get him to trade the radiator thats in the 78 for this one since it has the mounts for the fans already. Quote:
and the battery pics... well, we started out wanting to take pictures of everything, step by step to make a little how-to for engine removal. then realized that we had to have the motor out and everything by the time the shop closed its doors and the fact that I'm not putting this motor back in. so we only took about 97 pictures. had I more time and another free person to help, there would have been many more pics. but those ones just work. pull this from here... and put it over there

DAMN Spike.....Looks like you might not be doing any hard driving with that hand for awhile......DO NOT pop the blisters, let them pop on their own and keep it covered in gauze to keep germs out........As for the car, sorry for your loss!

only for every single vehicle I've ever owned/worked on. Camaros 78 86 95 94 96 93 98 99 01 75 67 70.5 Trucks 08 Silverado 97 Silverado 98 F150 70 C10 80 K20 some blazers and broncos 01 durango Other cars Escort Escape Galant Century plus a whole slew of other vehicles I cant think of right now. I've got a 4Tb external hard drive with metric crap tonnes of pictures of nearly every single bolt and nut from every project I've ever worked on. plus videos of some things and my one friend who is usually my photographer will take like 60 pics in a minute as I'm pulling a part off a car so its like a mini-movie I just dont have time to really build the site right now. maybe after the summer and once I've moved into the new house and get settled in I'll find some time to get everything up and running. seriously, the left header collector is now bent on one of the flanges. btw, give me a call tonight. got a present or 4 for you. and I believe you have some monies for me Quote:
meh, I can drive with the pain. I dislocated my left kneecap years ago and didnt have anyone to drive me to the hospital and the only vehicles I had available to me were the 78 camaro and the 70 C10... both were 3 speed manuals. that hurt. as for keeping germs out... meh, I've got enough dirt and grease from working on the cars to keep the germs out. lmao
