If the ZL1 is going to bow anywhere it's going to be in Detroit for the NAIAS...

They sat out the L.A. auto show, after that the next big chances are Detroit, Chicago and New York...

I'm putting my money on Detroit.

I actually popped in tonight because each December I get ready for the next big GM performance vehicle reveal. I'm looking around to see if there are any leaks of an upcoming performance variation of the new Camaro. Z/28. ZL1. 1LE.

I know it won't happen, but I would die happy if GM would give us a LT version of the LS7 (NA 427 high revving 540hp), giant rubber, cloth seats, no radio Z/28 for $50,000 to stick up against the GT350.

I think this is definitely possible and would kill the ford guys. The torque on that engine would be so much more than what Ford can do with small 5.2l 317 cubic inches. Compared to the 427 cu inch 7L engine.

On a side note I have already ordered a 1ss. Even if GM does not do the 427 in the camaro, when I retire mine from DD use I am going to do that. I think it can be done for $50k anyways. Car in total as well. Just need to build a stout short block.

I was with Ya up until that number near the end.

No way does a Z28 come in at 50k. I hope for a price that's less stratospheric than the previous iteration, still with excellent specs, but great specs means more money. It's a rule.

you wouldn't know it hanging out on Camaro6, it's all about:

Ferrari Quality - 800HP - 3100lbs all for $50K. If not, then GM sucks big time.

Since we are just hanging talking shop.....To give us a bang for the buck V8 upgrade, all they need to do is offer a LT1 with the displacement on demand removed. That would allow them to give us a cam with a LOT more lift and should get us close to 500hp for LESS cost to GM than the standard LT1. Offer that engine in the Corvette as the Stingray Grand Sport, and in the Camaro as the Z/28 (along with massive tires, etc). Would keep the cost more in check.

IMO, as long as GM offers us the 1LE for $3,500 or so, then they can give us more expensive hardware on the Z/28 and run it up to be a $8,500 package. IMO, the awesome spool valve shocks where not worth their big price tag on the Gen 5 Z/28. Do a still awesome shock for a fraction of the price. CC disc brakes just barely make that grade (bang for the buck $$$), and should be an option, IMO. I also want Michellin Sport Cup tires as an option. Pilot Super Sports standard. Leather is a waste of weight, so give me cloth seats and no radio.

I just hope they are smart and don't give us a ZL1 badged as a Z/28. The current Corvette Z06 has me worried they might do that for Camaro.....
