Oil Question.....
I recently bought a 2010 2LT. After reading some of the threads on here, I decided that I better check the oil. Well, the oil level is at the bottom hatch marks. So I feel like I should ad some oil to it just to get it between the upper and lower marks.
Now my question. I only have about 500 miles, so when adding oil should I add regular 5w30 or should I put in synthetic 5w30? Unsure if its ok to mix the 2, and I'm not sure what came in it from the factory. Thanks. |

It comes with regular oil. There isn't any reason why you can not add synthetic if you want. I would just drain the oil and start over with a fresh fill.

tcarro2001, since you only have 500 mile on your car.....a LOT, and I mean a LOT, including myself, change the oil and filter out after 500 miles, then just start fresh with synthetic....and never look back!
OH and BTW.... Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's and wive's here don't care....and take it easy. oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!!

Thanks for the help everyone. I am going to go ahead and get the oil changed tomorrow. I am no one to change it myself, or go to the dealership everytime, so when I go to the mechanic shop to get it changed, do I ask for a certain brand of oil, or just tell them full synthetic.
I also have a 2009 F150 FX4, and I get full synthetic in it every time, but just tell them synthetic, and so certain brand. Is one brand better for these cars. I just want to do what is best for this car 'cause..... I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! |
