Winter and going crazy

I live in Upstate NY and got my car in early December....was able to drive for 2 days (200 miles!) before the snow hit. I took it out once more when it was relatively dry for a few days and then gave her a good cleaning and put her away for the winter. Not taking her out wasn't too bad for the 1st couple of weeks, but now I can't wait to drive and I'm not sure how I'm going to make it until Spring...I'm obsessing similarly to the time when I was waiting for my car to be delivered.

I turned the plates in and I'm not dumb enough to take it out without plates/insurance, so I'll just have to wait it out I guess. I think going on camaro5 and reading all stuff that people are doing is making it worse. Maybe I should hibernate from the site for a couple months...

How are the rest of you that store you car in the winter handling this?

I own a snowmobile.......nothing like going fast on the snow !!

Once the snow melts and the snowmobile goes away out comes the car and motorcycles....!! Living in Northwest PA you have to have something for all the seasons.

This storing a car that really needs to be driven is very difficult,I feel your pain. When the weather warms up here and looks nice I just have to remind myself that there is alot of crap on the roads that will damage my BABY. I really cant stand a dirty Camaro and i do not want the chloride on my car. Let her sleep a couple more months spring is on the way then there's that wake up call. Well worth the wait.

Coolman - I turned the plates in because NY requires the plates to be turned in if you remove collision insurance. I'm saving a few bucks by just having comprehensive (fire/theft) during the winter...plus it removes the temptation to drive it (LOTS of salt here). But I found out after the fact that my current insurance company didn't require me to turn the plates in....my previous insurer required the receipt saying that surrendered the plates. I'll know better next year.

Living in Indiana the weather is similar (not as harsh as NY!) & I removed my temptation by waiting to order my Camaro until today. Hopefully take delivery end of March or early April. I am not always so good at resisting temptation, specially with a new Camaro

I look at it this way, sucks not having your car for a couple months, but its like getting a new car every spring. Who doesn't love that feeling?

We just got our first good snow here in arkansas. We are expecting up to 12" which is just unheard of here. We usually get ice and 1-2" snow tops. This is one year to the date we got the bad ice storm last year which left us out of power for 2 weeks so I would rather have the snow than that again. Camaro staying indoors.

Just how far is Upstate??...alot of people seem to think Upstate is Westchester County...LOL..Just go out and give her a hug every morning and tell it won't be much longer now.

It does suck reading about other owners driving their car and ours setting under their covers waiting for summer. I try to think that I don't have her yet and that helps until I go out and fire up the grill to cook steaks and there she is all sad and wanting me to play, so I open the door and it hits me hard, the smell of the new interior and I just have to set in her till the grill gets hot enough to cook. Then it is back in the house and I try to forget her again. Only about 3 more months to go!!!!

I myself am doing okay not driving her. She has a big year of racing a head of her so she deserves the rest. Not to mention I don't let her touch the salt - unless of course I have to go out for a power steering pump because the one in my truck died and my wife was away at work and I needed to get to work So only once in the salt and cleaned off immediately.

My baby lives in the garage - I have considered a storage unit but then I wouldn't get to look at her whenever I wanted. My wife hates this though because she can't park in the garage.

Salt on our roads in southern PA is pretty bad during pretty much the entire winter. They cover the roads as soon as it starts snowing and it takes a good while to get rid of it all. As soon as its gone though, she's coming out of hibernation!
