Is it normal for black smoke to come from exhaust at WOT

The title pretty much says it all but I just feel like my car isn't running quite like it should

Kind of hard to make a diagnosis without more information. What mods do you have? Do you have cats?

I was going 142 and it was just barely moving up but I did have about 400 lbs of passangers in the car. I just dont feel like it's as fast as it should be.

um... perhaps you should not be going 140 with passengers in your car - just in case something goes fubar? I realize it's texas and on a clear day you can see the back of your own head, but 140+ is asking for trouble.
You were probably just blowing off all that carbon that accumulated over time.

That's pretty normal. And pretty dumb.

Yeah, you don't get second chances at that speed. However, with similar mods (no passengers, though) my car is still walking strong at 140. No black smoke either.

L99 A6 or LS3 M6?

If its an LS3 M6, what gear were you in?

The extra weight will affect performance (400 lbs = 40hp decrease). So your car will accelerate slower than normal.

Under normal circumstances, my car pulls very hard and is gaining mph nicely at 140mph. .

Also, head wind can play a huge roll. I've seen superchared Camaro SS making 550+hp having trouble getting to 160mph against a stong headwind.

Yeah, stuffing this guy in your car probably didn't help.
