Sounds like the timing on my camaro is off

So i went to drop of a friend to pick up his car at my mechanics shop and he heard me turn on my camaro and told me right away that my timing was off.

has anyone had this problem???

by the way i hear a pop sound when i start the car and only because i did
a muff. delete & suppressor.

I think you need a new mechanic. They all pop on start up, especially with no mufflers.

I suppose if the car was tuned that it is possible. I would think you would notice driveability issues and the like if that were the case.

+1

If your timing was off you would be noticing quite a few more problems than just a pop at start up.

My SS is bone stock and always pops when I start it.

If your mechanic approached your car with a timing light and a wrench, tackle him!

I think a scan of the computer will actually TELL you if the timing is off or if there is an issue. I wouldn't let that guy come anywhere near my car.

my '04 SRX had bad camshafts. My '07 SRX had a bad timing chain. Why haven't you taken it to the dealer?

I have had 2 5th gen Camaros and both of them felt/ feel weak at startup.
Its just the way it is. I've had more them 1 person say it doesn't sound right at startup but have never had any problems.
