Clean or new?

Should I buy a recharge kit to clean my cold air inductions filter or buy a new one?

i would just buy new one. i read you need to put the right amount of oil or something back on and let it sit to dry. for how long they last i would just buy a new one.

Word!

I would hate to over oil by accident and screw up your engine. Easier to just buy new.

Anybody know the life of the filter until they need to be recharged or replaced?

The filter should last for the lifetime of your car when properly serviced. Recharging your filter is very easy and will save you a lot of money. Here is an article from our blog that is written by Bill Hylton on CAI Inc. that describes how it is done.

Just clean the thing. It's easy. Just don't go apeshit and oil the crap out of it, or you might end up having to clean your MAF sensor afterwards.

I bought an extra 1. Always have one cleaned, lightly oiled. I usually will switch out if I'm going to run on a track or trip. This way you don't need to rush when cleaning.
