MSRP means Manufacture Suggested Retail Price. So if a person pays less then MSRP, why should a dealer not charge over MSRP? It's the law of supply and demand. The price is what the market will bare.
Remember when the iPhone came out, everyone that purchased on paid MSRP, but a year later some of the cell company's are giving them away with a 2 year contract? |

You guys need to get some facts before posting. From dictionary.com: means to extort from, swindle, or overcharge. Problem is, you are stopping at that definition. Yo also need to look up suggested (to mention or introduce (an idea, proposition, plan, etc.) for consideration or possible action). This is the second word in MSRP (manufacturers SUGGESTED retail price. Perhaps is we stopped using MSRP as a word and identified it as an abbreviation more people would understand.
You and I do not set the price of a vehicle. The manufacturer does NOT set the price of a vehicle. They do SUGGEST a fair price for the vehicle given the factors they are aware of. They charge the dealership some number below this price and the dealer buys it. The DEALER then sets the price; any price they want. How would you like it if someone told you how much you could sell something you owen for? How would you like it if you set a price you thought fair, given market condition, and you were called out for gouging. You do not have to purchase a car from anyone in particular and are free to shop any dealer of your liking just as they are allowed to charge whatever they want. That is the basic and inalienable right established by our founding fathers. Dont like paying more than the manufacturer thinks ther car is worth, DONT BUY IT or find it somewhere else. This is how a fair market works. Dont like that, move to Europe where the government sets the price for everything. |

I was in N/W Atlanta a couple weeks ago at the F-body Gathering and we stopped by a local dealer that had 2 - 2012 ZL1's on the lot. 1 was black and 1 was Ashen Gray. Both were at MSRP PLUS a 20k market adjustment. 78k & 81k.
At that price they'll be sitting there for a while

I made my deal for a 2012 ZL1 on 01-09-12 over the phone from Mexico to Springfield, MA. Agreed on price was MSRP. The order was converted to a 2013 in June and finally delivered on 08-18-12. The dealer stood by the MSRP quoted and gave me the $500.00 "Love it or Return it" rebate. Not bad by regional standards.

Of course, I can say that having deal thru internet is easier and accessible. I actually found a great deal with Sandy Springs Scion Atlanta GA and I am very happy over it. The site shows me all the prices of cars. It was really helpful in a new town when I did not know where to go. Moreover, the website showed me anything I could need and let me compare prices on different automobiles. Perhaps, you may also try this site and you'll probably receive the most beneficial auto buying experience possible.

Just spent an hour or so trying to get the dealer to budge off of $65,000 for there 13 ZL1 (Black, Polished Wheels, M6, CF Insert). Didn't leave with the car. They had the original MSRP sticker on it then another sticker with the MSRP and an additional 8K added for limited production. Some one will buy it I'm sure.

There are 2013 ZL 1 models around if you find the right dealer. It was worth the wait to get the car!
