Lol, constructing theories huh. Just face it, the ZL1 is taking as ass pounding and you and all the other fanboys know it! I can't wait til a head to head on the same track and the GT500 out runs the ZL1 around the corners. Then what's the argument gonna be? It's time to accept defeat just like the 4.6 guys did when the LS1 came about.

A true hand built made in America race engine does cost a little more, been a while since I've seen cast pistons spec'ed for an engine built to put out and last....just saying..

All this chatter about the Shelby not being a road course car, what year did Chevy win Le Mans?

I bought a hand built sandwich at subway and it wasn't any better than the one I made at home.

Cost isn't that much different unless you add the track pack which about 95% of owners will never use, add the glass roof which makes no sense, add the Recaro seats which isn't offered in the ZL1, add the Nav which wasn't offered in the 2012 ZL1 (I'm sure there will be a cost adjustment on the 2013 for that adder),add the sub woofer(Which who cares about a radio in a 662HP car. I want to hear those ponies.) I ordered the SVT package ,but once again most people will have no need for it. Without it, it would make the GT500 less than the ZL1 by a good bit when you consider the Gas Guzzler tax and higher destination charge. The cost argument isn't an argument. Like I've said countless times in these threads, I believe the ZL1 is the all around better car for the everyday motorhead ,and I really have no comment on the ring times of either car because I don't believe that to be anything other than a smoke screen used for marketing purposes by the car companies. |

All I know is I'm buying exactly what I want in a GT500 for $615 more than exactly what I wanted in a ZL1. Also, is the pricing out for the 2013 ZL1 yet? I bet the cost goes up. |

Each car, with any available performance options, with none of the extra fluff. That's functionally how they'll be tested.
Ford gives you the option of foregoing some of those options, giving you a choice (having a choice is a very, very bad thing according to most Camaro guys, but whatever), but since we ALL know every ZL1 driver races competitively at VIR every other weekend, I'm willing to throw them a bone and stipulate that for it to be an apples to apples comparison, the GT500 needs the track pack. |

What type of cooling systems does the ZL1 use on the rear end, transmission and engine? Are they forced cooled with pumps or just some type of passive transfer method? The biggest difference I see that would make the cost go up for the GT500 is the motor. It would cost a lot more to hand build a fully forged motor with the space aged technology that is in that motor. Although the suspension system on the ZL1 is out of this world which should probably make it cost more. I guess Ford has to give Shelby his cut. God rest his sole. LOL |
