I feel like the stock shafts are stronger than aluminum. If I ever do another one piece shaft it will be CF or chromoly.

That's my understanding is chromoly is for the big boys. Weight, not such an issue.

True, but no more costly than CF and would never break at my level. The added weight would be my biggest reason for sticking with a stock shaft.

Got the shaft out. Marked the remaining weights so they can remove those too. The weight in the previous picture was sitting on top of the exhaust, the other is long gone.
Shaft looks great otherwise. No scratches or dings. There was a hole I didn't know that the manufacturer added. My guess to let air out even though the yokes have their own vent. Maybe they meant it for another application or glue. Shipping back on their label come Monday and I'm glad I kept the original container.

Well the driveshaft is on its way back to me after only 1 day in their shop. They pulled off all the old weights and re-torque tested the shaft, then reinstalled the balance weights and rebalanced to 5500rpm. The balance report looks better than the first one I originally got.
I'll report back on how it goes after the install.

Sounds like they’re taking care of you. That’s a good sign in todays world.

There were some times talking to them I had my doubts. I asked them do the torque test again and to be sure to remove the existing weights that didn't fly off because eventually they would come off too. I don't know what I would've got back if I hadn't told them what I wanted. I only got to deal with Jordy (Jordan) and had only talked to Shane once since he was out of the office with Mel. In the end they listened and even sent videos of both tests which I thought was cool.

Just curious why you selected GC instead of DSS ?

My main reason was because there wasn't a CV joint and no adapters, just simple u-joints and flanges.
I have a video or two on my channel going into depth why I wanted 2 u-joints instead of a CV and the shafts installation, but the short story is I feel there's a better chance of less vibration.

Dead hooked at Indy hard enough to twist a 300 M input shaft as well as the main shafts inside the trans… didn’t bother the driveshaft… I’m not saying anyone is wrong, just a different set of experiences I guess…

I have a custom aluminum Driveshaft from GULF COAST DRIVESHAFT. Very high quality, as mentioned the Sonax Billet U-Joints are all the rage. Staff and Customer Service are great, and overall great people to work with. (Have met them Personally at few events we compete at as well)
Directly comparing and reasoning on why I chose to use one of their driveshafts well simple. They offer a superior product to what others offer. On top of that they are local company about 3 hours from where I am at. Support local businesses and support your local speed shops. USA MADE Thats why
