and you think the cab-and-a-half Ford F-150s here in Texas are frugal?

Maybe in NJ, they're doing something other than hauling hay for their neighbor's cows !?!?

Doesn't matter. It's unprofesional.

If you saw that Camaro in your mirror, you think this guy is messing with you until he get up to your side pulling your Camaro over.

I would ask for an audit of the state police department. If they can waste $4k on 21" rims then who knows what else they have wasted money on.

Public perception can weigh quite heavy when it comes to stuff like this.

You would be surprised how often dealerships make donations to thier local police departments. We have a local dealership that donates vehicles to both the police and fire departments. No one could tell me, that if a dealership came up to them and said "We would like to donate a Camaro to your traffic enforcement division." they would turn it down. Don't hate the cops because they get to drive a Camaro at work. Ever try to catch someone trying to outrun you when you were driving a Crown Vic? Crown Vics can't get out of thier own way.
And at least with the new Camaro,Chevy probably wont have to offer a special "B4C" pursuit package. The SS already has great power, breaking, and cooling.

at the 'tax dollars' comments in here...4 grand. Please...that's how much it costs for a state to sneeze.
Besides...if it's "principal" you're defending here...why just the rims? The car itself is expensive, impractical, and not-needed in a police department. CRUSH IT!

Anyways...I'd probably run into the guy in front of me because I'd be staring at it too much.

If I saw that thing in my rear view mirror, I'd be thinking "what the hell am I doing in New Jersey."

I can honestly tell you that the Ford Police Interceptor is not a fast car. It is very low on torque and it levels off very quickly. It takes a long time to get them up to top speed. They are not bad for around a city, but since they are Finally killing the Crown Vic, we are looking at the Tahoe and the new Caprice that will be out later this year.

1st: start a high speed chase to see how fast it is

2nd: get a ride to jail in it

3rd: try to join that police department
