anyone know if Ford is done testing and will publish a time for the ring soon? I hear it's GT500 media week at Road Atlanta this week.

Boss 351 remake? 500hp na 5.8 in a boss chassis with brakes and aero off the gt500.

Boss 302 for the hot handler crew

Boss 351 for the gladiators with an ax and pension for violent power slides and aggressive acceleration.

I love the idea, let's get this bandwagon roll'n.

Next we need a 500hp na camaro with magnetic shocks and brakes off the zl1

Is it just coincidence that they got 5.8L and 351 ci out of the new gt500 mill or is it a homogeneity relation to the old 351's nostalgia?

I'm guessing this isn't the only mustang we will see with this 5.8L. Maybe in sc guise but ultimately, I hope they get this mill in a boss as an na mill. That'd be so bad ass.

I doubt it was a coinky dink. I'm sure someone along the way said "hey check this out". I think it was a good thing for them to do. Ford could use more cubes IMO. I mean, they have been making due with smaller engines, and they've been dusting everyone lately. But seeing what they can do with the 5.8 L GT500 vs Chevy's 6.2 L ZL-1 will be very interesting.

I have had some issues that were caused by the dealer's cleaning crew, as well as some warranty issues that appear to be inherent problems with the Camaro. All this having been said, I am scheduling an appointment to get 3 of the 'bee stripes replaced, passenger door adjusted, and getting the front bumper repainted. This will be its third trip to the dealer to correct cosmetic problems.

After driving this car a little over 1600 miles, given the problems I've had, it's been the worst "new car" experience I ever gone through. The car feels heavy to me, feels more like it's driving me than I'm driving it. So, since I haven't driven a new Mustang since 2005, I stopped at my old place of business and took a 2013 Mustang GT out for a ride.

The car feels lighter and quicker. It shifts better. The steering is solid and has better road feel than my Camaro. They run P-Zeros on these cars too, so the tires aren't a factor, but the Mustang feels more agile on the hairpins. The interior seems to be of better quality than my Camaro. In another post I'd previously stated that I thought my Camaro felt "delicate". The Mustang, on the contrary, feels like I could beat the living crap out of it and it would come back for more.

My Camaro has more visual appeal. It turns more heads than a Mustang would, unless I were to buy a Boss or GT500. But I'm not a "car show" guy. I'm a drag racer, and I like taking things up to 140 MPH when I feel like it. Not that the Camaro doesn't have the same ability, but the Mustang has a 3.73:1 ratio, and a solid axle that I can launch hard without fear of damage. The Boss comes with Trackey, which basically gives you factory electric exhaust cutouts, and programmable cam timing. Push-button lumpy cam on demand. Wow.

I'm still on the fence at this point, but shame on me for buying the Camaro without driving the Mustang first. The SS and GT are equal in price, but after road testing the GT, I left thinking that the Mustang has more bang for the buck. If I can make the numbers work, I just might make the jump. Tough call.

Just sharing my thoughts and impressions, so please keep the flames low.
For some of us the decision is more based on room. At 6'2" and 230 lbs I found the Mustang to be extremely uncomfortable. The Camaro SS on the other hand could fit me if I were 6'4". The extra weight is definitely felt but it is not overwhelming. I felt that the Coyote was a lot faster than the SS...but there is no visual appeal. The outside is soo blah and boring. Even the rims on the Coyote are hideous. Only Mustang fans will drool over the Coyote. The SS has everyone drooling everywhere.

The only thing where I feel you went wrong is by not test driving the Coyote. When I bought my SS I knew from the moment I saw the car that I was gonna buy it. But I still went and test drove the Coyote just to see if I was missing out on anything...and I don't feel like I missed out on anything. Between both cars, I don't feel the Mustang offers enough to compare with the SS. Not saying it was a POS, just saying it wasn't for me. But in your case I think what you might be experiencing is a bit of guilt.

Yes! A 427 LS7 camaro should be available to purchase. The Z06 has had this motor for long enough!

Agreed...with 1LE suspension (or MRC) and ZL1 brakes...and, of course, named appropriately...

2013 Ford Mustang GT 5.0

Here's a quick video of my brother's new 2013 Mustang 5.0. He just swapped out his exhaust for a Roush Racing axle-back

I want to see a carbon copy zl1 but with the 505hp 7.0 in it. Itd chop 100lbs give or take and all off the nose no less.

Hell, tweak the cam profile, work on the duration, etc and get 550hp out of it na if it's still not accelerating like a long legged ticked off ...

Dodge has the 392 and we all know that motor can make 550hp given some cam and head work.

510hp boss 351 @ 3550#'s
550hp 427 ss? @ 4,000#'s
550hp 392 srt8 @ 4100#'s

Traded my 2 month old 1SS/RS for a Boss 302 for the same basic reasons you mention in your post. The Camaro is a great "cruiser" but fails as a sport/muscle car....too mushy for what I was looking for in a performance vehicle.
The Boss 302, for lack of a better description, is just plain bad to the bone and in a much different league than the Camaro.

ILE weighs 3920 lb. Supposed to run VIR @ BOSS LS-like times. Add wet-sumped LS7 with an extra 50 ft/lb and 70 hp over LS3 (and no extra weight), 6-piston Brembos, CTS-V optional seats, and a Ram Air/extractor hood... Priced the same as the BOSS LS, under $50K...and well under 4,000 lb, with better weight-to-power and balance than BOSS LS...with more rubber on the road, using the ZL1's rear 305s.

I owned a 5.0 and my Camaro is just so much nicer than the mustang I had. Both are great cars but the Camaro is simply a more enjoyable car than the mustang all around.

Local dealer here has one on order. Don't know when it will come in. According to their site, they have a '13 Boss on the lot. Does that sound right?

And the one on order is $67k, yikes! Both packages (perf and SVT), Recaros and a car cover.
