touch-up paint...a lifesaver...the only way our cars will be chip free is to garage them for life...which is dumb because the car was built to be driven...id like to see this fixed as well...but if you know what you are doing...a little touch-up and a wax and buff and its like nothing happened...people spend more time bitching than it takes to physically repair the issue yourself...

drive a car..chips happen...dont want em...ride a bike

Just left my car at the dealer. The GM rep said they would do "a one time courtesy" repaint of the front fascia. Gave me a new Malibu to drive and everything. So i guess they know there is an issue, but the "courtesy" repaint makes it sound like it is owner error, not a problem with GM paint... I will let you guys know how it looks when I get it back, it is going straight for clear bra!!

ummmmmm, no one said a car won't get chips, the point is, this paint seems to chip more easily than years prior. Not too sure about anyone else, but I'm not willing to pay 35k for a paint job that scratches too easy and chips. If indeed the EPA is forcing the big three to use crap base ans clear, then I guess we need clear bras for free.

exactly...i may be exaggerating a little but i don't want my car in 5 years to look 10 years old because of paint chipping...plus i have a lot more chips than just a little bit of touch up paint and buffing can fix....and i want to be enjoying my car every weekend and put mods on it not fixing paint chips that really shouldn't be there...i'd be perfectly happy for them to fix the chips or at least supply a clear bra for the front and the gills...im not complaining i just expect a $30,000+ car's paint to last longer than a month or two plus im not even mad about it....heh...

Mine got peppered by a snow plow so I really dont have a bone in this but I will say that in the 11+ years of living here this is the first car this has happened to and ive had three trucks and two 4runners in that time frame. Hood, fenders, front section and gills had to be repainted due to chips.

I think they all should be combined, I think there are at least 15 threads on this issue scattered throughout the forum

Not gill area but around other parts of the car.
