Heartland is pretty nice I think. They do have NHRA events and hold crowds/parking very well.

Majority are in it for the company, vendors and shows. That can be done anywhere. I don't drag race, but a straight away is a straight away no?? I Would rather see a larger vendor turn our and member turn out where people can actually make it out.

Nobody wants to go to the same place every year. That gets really lame really fast.

Case in point, Indy 2.0.

How to hug your camaro
Buy the car that you would most like to get beat in. The other guy will always be faster.

To have a true "host hotel" I imagine Camaro5 would like to block off at least 250 rooms initially with the option to open up 50 to 100 more rooms depending on how quickly the rooms get booked up once the announcement is made on this forum.

The hotel in Phoenix probably had at least 300 rooms dedicated to Camaro5 once all was said and done, purely based on how many cars we had in the parking lot of the hotel

Camaro5 tried doing the "multiple smaller hotels all next to each other" for this past Fest in Baytown, and I don't think the people or Camaro5 really liked that option too much, because it spreads everyone out and makes it feel smaller than it really is. Baytown actually had a really nice turn out, but if you only looked out on your own hotel's parking lot, it didn't feel like the big event that it was...

The Spring Hill Suites - Baytown shows 101 rooms and it is 10 miles from the track. There are several on the list linked above that are within 10 miles that have more than 100. The issue I see is that they aren't all bunched together like in Baytown and Indy. The advantage is what Lgndryhr posted above -- it is away from town with some nice, low traffic places to do a cruise. I've been to a couple of Super Chevy shows there and they have a great setup. Behind the stands as you enter there is a nice big area where they do the swap meet that would be great for the car show. The place where they usually do the car show would be great for vendor setup. There is a huge amount of parking (albeit a lot of it is on grass) and a nice little AutoX setup.

God bless Atco Dragway. Hope it lives forever! I never saw an NHRA event there, but I did see a few thrill shows, including the "Benny the Bomb" spectacular back in the 80's .

500 or a couple of hotels next to each other. The SpringHill didn't have many rooms but it had conference facilities so the large lot. Most hotels only have spaces for the number of rooms.

Hotel is a real important part of the fest and it was not optimal this year. Parties were spread out.

You know something just occurred to me. If the Fest is always in April/May most of the north is still dealing with snow that time of year.

To hell with that... lol

LOL.. no it's not. If we are up North it's in the Summer like it was two years in August. Down South to beat the heat it needs to be earlier.
