That's not really a bias statement. . . It's fact. The srt was lacking compared to the 5.0 and LS3, especially being at a huge disadvantage in price. A 475hp srt is not going to be anywhere near the performer that the 550hp gt500 is or what we all assume the z28 will be.

if you go by performance alone, but people dont buy cars only for that. if i wanted a performance car i would make my own that would blow the doors off anything for a fraction of the price, and that is where my love for the challenger comes into play.

plus the shelby is going to have even more trouble than it does now putting that power to the ground.

The 6.4 should be a welcome power bump to the SRT8, and edge out the GT and the SS unless they counter with mo power the same year. The Shelby does not have any worries, too much power and not too much excess weight.

oh it has the excess weight....it wont have a problem but it still will have the same problem it's always had...spinning the tires, which to some is a good thing lol

the power level stated is on par with the added cubes. no suprise here.

the 392SRT is not aimed at the GT500/Z28. they are stupid of it is. it will likely be just faster than the GT and SS.

3900/559hp = = 6.97 hp/lb----Z28
3850/550hp = = 7 hp/lb------GT500
4132/475hp = = 8.69 hp/lb--- challenger
3780/426hp = = 8.87 hp/lb--- camaro SS
3580/412hp = = 8.68 hp/lb -- base 2011 mustang GT

rough numbers. put 335/35-19's and maybe its quick. so heavy.

We don't know how much power the Z28 will make, or what it will weigh. But its pretty much guaranteed that it will weigh more than 3900 lbs, unless somebody has invented a weightless supercharger and intercooler.

The GT500 weight is wrong and the Z28 weight is wrong. If you add the SC weight it will be more than our indicate. The GT500 is 3721 lbs with 550 horse. The base SS is 3860 in manual form then add at least 100-150 for the SC and other upgrades and you will be around 4000, give take 50 lbs.

GT500 is 3820, not 3720.

The Kicker-1000 soundsystem on the Shelby has a sub-box and a few Amps and weighs 70+ lbs, so depending on if the car is equipped with the upgraded sound system or not, the weight varies. That explains the rampant confusion on the curb weight....

Ok, I was off... 3751.

Thanks to the new engine, the electric power steering, and the lighter wheels, the car we drove tipped our scales at 3751 pounds, 146 less than the last GT500 we tested. More important, the amount of weight over the front wheels has gone from 57.4 percent to 55.7 percent. This less porky GT500 also gets better EPA gas mileage—up from 14 mpg city and 22 mpg highway to 15 and 23—making it the first GT500 to avoid a gas-guzzler penalty.
