I do not like the new wheel, I actually prefer the current camaro wheel with camaro spelled out

Kind of off topic, but how do you clean the microfibre suede stuff? I'm sure unless you wear rubber gloves eventually it will look a bit grungy just from the natural oils on your hands.

You forgot a category:

Ditch the current wheel altogether! Give us a sporty adaptation of the current 2SS/2LT wheel instead!

i sat in both the cruze and camaro today at the toronto autoshow and i can honestly say the camaro wheel (ss) is bulky and uncomfortable compared to the cruze wheel which is light weight and very nice to have in your hands. I also sat in the CTs-v coupe with the suede wheel and shifter and that was very nice.

The ZL1 wheel is a winner in its shape and function. the bowtie should go and it should recive the camaro badge there.

I'd say have the ZL1 logo on the center...remove it from the bottom.

I'm actually curious about this as well...why not just replace the rim on the original wheel to something smaller, thicker, and D-shaped like this one. Then I remembered an excerpt of a conversation with Karl Stracke on the ergonomics of Camaro...where he lambasted the wheel and shifter design...I'd bet my future ZL1 he had something to do with this...

This is a good thread, though. I'm not sure if safety testing would need to be redone if they redesigned the mold for the airbag cover....if it doesn't - replacing the bowtie with "Camaro" could be an easy change and really make a world of difference....if it does require retesting - I think the acronym is 'SOL'.......

I have to agree, I'm not a big fan of the new wheel either.

And on another note, what's the deal with the leather seats? Why can't GM get the material to fit smooth and tight like it does on every other car I look at?

I really like the new ZL1 steering wheel and it seems as if the designers have a well liked design because mercedes benz has a design that looks similar to the Camaro and ZL1 wheels which proves that the GM design is not cheap looking by any means. The graining is different on the airbag pad but that's to be expected on a muscle car as compared to a high dollar exotic benz. I also vote to have Camaro or a larger ZL1 on the wheel airbag cover to replace the bowtie but it would not keep me from purchasing one.

Perhaps letting C5 in on some ZL1 images a little earlier may have been beneficial? Just sayin

Woulda-coulda-shoulda...

The only people who get to see this sort of thing before it's out is the disciples. And if this was a topic that was addressed...I'm certain they represented the enthusiast community well. Keep in mind, there's also stuff that's subject to change. At no point did they say this car was to be built as-is. In fact, I thought they were very clear in that there was much more work to be done...but one more thing to keep in mind is that you can't please 100% of people....it's just impossible.

I'm "keeping the faith" for now. The response to an idea like embossing "Camaro" in this wheel is overwhelming, and I'm positive they've at least glanced through this discussion...if it can be done, and it makes sense to do, I trust it will be.

In a year when the ZL1 comes out.

Right now, that's the only one of its kind. Other GM vehicles share the corporate-wheel portion, which is the center section and spokes...but none of them have this rim.
