John, something to consider here. The Welds may indeed have been designed for a stock (static) height car, but these are rubbing on the OEM control arms when in a squatted position. What would be more important is if the wheels were designed to work with full suspension travel, not just static non-moving height. A very hard hooking launch on a stock height car could still result in enough suspension squat to simulate a lowered car.

guys i'm almost sure it's the backspacing. i think the welds are 7.200 and bogarts are 6.750. i'm not sure but these #'s are close. these both are 17x10's. the further you go to the outside of the car the lower control arm gets smaller or starts turning upward so they have more clearance.

You are correct and thats why 0.45" is the culprit.

Also PTS is officially a Bogart Distributor.

If anyone is wanting to get rid of their Welds due to fitment issues, hit me up. I'm stock height and need a set. We can work something out.

Correct. I will put a weld on my car, and put a jack under the control arm, and exercise the arm full down to full up and take lots of pictures to compare. That should tell the whole story. I'll get to it tomorrow (Friday) after work. Stay tuned for pics. If there's an issue, this will show where it is, and why.

Vendors all over the place talk about NOT racing on stock axles, stock trailing arms.. How soft the stock IRS mounting points are, etc. and to replace all of that before you track so you don't tear stuff apart.. There are a couple vendors that even sell "track pack" suspension components that include lowering springs and different rates..

I don't really know many people rolling around on 17s for the look.. It's my understanding it's all about traction and tire for the tracks.

I know they can't test every part out there.. -- but, seriously.. someone making wheels should be a little more informed on something like lowering a car = screwing up their wheel than waiting for people to ruin them first.
this is very well said. i think it's time for the vendor to stand up
