Some of you are really over-guessing prices...they're way out of Camaro, and "Chevy-value" range....still, all that does is set you up for a bigger, more pleasant surprise! |

I would guess that the absolute base V6 would be $19,899 with the RS package bringing it to $22,990. And the absolute base SS might be $27,000 with the RS/SS being $31,000. People that say they can't see the Corvette motor going into the Camaro at an affordable price need to stop and realize that the Vette body is made totally different than the Camaro body. The LS3 isn't what gives the Vette it's price, its the BODY and all the UPGRADES. I mean do you think a Camaro with an LS3 will beat the Corvette with an LS3? I don't think so....think about it.

Why would anyone think they couldn't offer a Corvette engine in a Camaro at a reasonable price?
From 1993-2002 they offered the LT1 and LS1 from the Corvette at a reasonable price... What would change that possibility now? |

I'd be amazed if chevy was crazy enough to put the base MSRP for the 8 above 28-29k. Would just be too risky in an entry level market, even an entry level sports car market. In this kind of market, people want bang for the buck - so price is a big deal. Its not like 50k+ luxury cars, where people want the best car.

I'm just hoping I can get into a V8 'vert with some bells and whistles for around $40k.

I don't remember which GM rep said it, but they made the point of saying months ago that the Camaro would be priced higher than the Mustang because of what you were getting for your money, more HP, better tranny's, better suspension, better technology, and hopefully a much better interior.
Of course if they price it close to the Mustang, then will sell every one they make, but I'm not counting on it. |

Has the g8 gxp price been available already? I heard it was going to be just under 40 k so if that is the case I would expect the camaro to cost as much if not a bit more.
