Starting to have 2nd thoughts

Im starting to have second thoughts on buying this car in such a crappy economy. The shop where I work is close to empty, my sister who is a book editor for a major publisher is about to get laid off, all the shops around me are dead.

Is any one else starting to think twice about buying this car the way the economy is. Maybe some of your comments will help me make a decision.

I did as well, but then i realized that these tough times will end soon enough, and i think the Camaro will help get through the pain emotionally rather then financially,

I have. I only recommend that everybody be cautious in times like these, but you can't live your life afraid.

It all boils down to your current situation, if you have the funds then by all means go out and buy it (and help the economy!) but if not then it may be better to wait and see how your financial situation will turn out...

Personally I am in college but have been working to save for this car for a few years now, I have a job lined up after i graduate in May, and no matter how bad things get businesses will always need accountants...

For me my lease is up in 2 months and I need a car so it's not like I am adding more payment just replacing one.

I was starting to have second thoughts (considered a used GTO instead) but I'm feeling pretty secure in my job now...oil industry and prices are rising again, even if it's just a little plus I got stock options for the first time so they'll likely keep me around for a bit. I will be putting in my order this summer once I'm done paying for preschool for my son...moving on to tax dollar funded kindergarten in the fall! His monthly "tuition" right now is about the same as what my Camaro monthly payments will be so I'll see no difference at the end of each month.

If you can swing it, do it. If you aren't on stable ground, you might want to wait. Nothing like having a brand new car and having to eat the depreciation when you sell it because you lost your job.

v6 model isn't a bad option for those needing to be more conservative in their spending. It's just one of those situations where you have to study your outlook. If your one who has a lot of non-realestate debt then you might want to think harder about it. But if your fairly debt free other than a single mortgage and utilities it's not that bad of a decision. You have to have a car. If this is an 'extra' car then it's different. Just don't overspend on options.

I'm sure you know all of this but just some food for thought.

I've been shoppin around first for a Mustang before finally deciding on the 2010 Camaro. I've been without a sports car for over 2 years so the time is right. I don't live beyond my means and I think that's the key. Everyone's situation is different but you can't live your life in fear or saying if only..........

This is exactly how I'm hoping to fall into a 2SS for around $34K. I'm hoping someone at my dealership ordered it and backs out because he/she had second thoughts.

That dealer is going to want to sell that car and if I offer him $34K right on the spot, I doubt he'll turn it down.

That's my hope at least.

I feel your pain dude. My sons day care is like $225 a week! Once he turns 4, it's free...

Anyhow, the economy has not affected me at all as of yet. I am still making what I made last year and the year before, so really you should look at your own personal situation and not let the "doom and gloom" you read and hear about all day dictate how you run your life.

$225 a week? Thats peanuts! I pay a caregiver about $150 a day to care for my elderly Mother just so I can go to work. I just can't stand the thought of putting her in a nursing home!!

I've got a lot riding on our family business that we re-opened after me and my brother got laid off. I have saved for this car and have wanted it for 3 years. With the money I have now I can make it work for a while plus it's pretty good motivation to getting up early and putting a lot of time and hard work into this business.
