It might not be in the exhaust itself. It could be that it takes several thousand miles, for whatever is making the noise to start-up again after installation of the exhaust.

I find it hard to believe three systems would be bad. Just a thought.

I'd agree but 2 things, the mounts are identical so its not like they are loosening up, the dealer never replaced the rubber mounts. Also my Dealer's techs are pretty good and know their stuff I figure they would have seen a heat shield or something loose.

It could be the exhaust rattling against the tunnel brace. I had that issue for a bit when I switched from the 2.25" stock V6 exhaust piping to a 2.5" setup (diameter of stock SS exhaust).

I used to get this weird rattle that sounded like it came from my center console during the high-idle at startup. I later discovered that it was coming from the rear-view mirror. I still haven't replaced the dang thing, I just keep the little headlight switch in the back flipped up so the mounting is tighter.

Nope, the sound is clearly and specifically coming from the mufflers. Its the same issue I have had twice previously.

I read your initial thread and sometime later car developed the buzzing. Since I had SOLO mid pipes on I knew the exhaust warranty was gone. I got lucky and a member here had his GMPP street axleback for sale and I snapped it up.

I'm with some others here. Since the stock mufflers keep failing see if they will do the GMPP street for you...at no cost. A repeat issue deserves special treatment. imo. Just be polite but firm, so they see your point. Get your salesperson involved too. They want your continued business and referrals.

Exhaust Rattles

My 2SS developed strange noises last summer(2010). Took it to my dealer(BEST Chevy) . They replaced the mufflers saying that the baffles were defective and that this had been happening to a many other camaros. No further problems since then but I don't drive it in the winter so I have not put a lot of miles on it since.

No...

Unless you are a lemon law lawyer I wouldnt suggest dishing out advice on lemon law. Its a somewhat vague law that can be bent on the situation.

In terms of a lemon contact a lawyer, they know what their talking about.

Surprisingly enough its fairly quickly getting worse, I'm not getting the noise at high idle just like last time around :(

I may have a resolution or non resolution about this sooner than I expected....

and no while I did mention the lemon law, I will not be doing that over this.

Are you guys positive the problem is your exhaust and not the heat shields around the cats coming loose? Many G8's had this mysterious "buzzing" coming from under the car and the problem was almost always the heat shields, tighten the bolts and the sound goes away. Just a thought.

No, it has to be the mufflers. He has had this for the third time now and after the fix there is no sound for awhile and then it comes back. If it were the heat shields the sound would not have gone away after the fix.

Why spend $1200 on a new exhaust? I replaced mine from the cats back with a resonated magnaflow X-pipe, deleted the mufflers and put on 5" tips. Looks and sounds BAD ASS but is not too loud at all. Just a little louder and deeper. Parts and install was just under $600.
