Mass Air Flow or Metered Air Flow sensor..... Simply put, it measures the volume of air flowing into the intake for proper fuel air mixture...

Are the "weak" MAF's only "weak" when used with Vararam products? If I change this MAF out on mine will I see a difference in stock preformance?

I have not yet installed my Vararam due to my car still being in winter storage, but I have read a lot of these threads. It appears that in stock conditions either MAF will work fine, however, with the addition of a high-flow CAI you may see benefits to changing to the new MAF. For the Vararam units in particular you will have issues if your MAF is one of the lazy ones (surging and A/F ratio issues from what i have read).

I'm sure someone with more knowledge will be in here shortly to correct or corroborate me.

No - the "weak" MAF is ok for stock aplications but not for any other modifications!
Not just the Vararam!

I changed mine out very early in my modding for the JetFlow. I noticed a difference especially after the CAI went on.

I checked mine too. Sure enough, I have one of the crappy MAFs also. No wonder I was one of the ones w/ the bucking problem on my intake. Kirk (VMS) managed to tame most of it w/ my tune, but I'm wondering if I should try a new MAF anyway (?).

I had the bucking problem when I had my New Era and I have a good MAF! I think the tune is what helped your bucking for sure. Wouldn't hurt trying a good MAF though!
