Easy money for everyone, including our Gov.
PQ, you got me thinking. I pay 9.75% per week of my total gross in federal tax alone. When I receive my quarterly bonus, I am taxed a little over 42% using the Aggregate Method. It is possible that our payroll dep. software does not recognize a bonus as a one time pay out, thus the system automatically bumps me up in a higher tax bracket. Either way, I am now on a mission to find out why "free" money is taxed so heavily.

A lot of people don't realize that they are not taxed 37%. It's business that sends a 37% clip in. Your employer has to match your SS and Medicare taxes and then pay the FUTA as well as state and local taxes. Most individuals only pay around 15% give or take. The business makes up the rest. I make tax payments monthly for our payroll and business. I'm a fan of taxes. Really I am. There HAS to be taxes. I'm NOT a fan of them wasting what we pay.

Drew, I'm not exactly sure how or why they tax so hard on those payments but I assume it's the company basically saying that they don't want to match any of it so they make it all on you. And I suppose it's not a shitty thing for them to do because they don't HAVE to give it??? If the company made it a regularly taxable pay then they'd have to match the taxes you DO pay and give you the difference. In essence, costing them MORE money.

I don't know, but either way, the Gov. requires it so they have to send it on your behalf.

BUT, please do not get me confused as a tax guru. I use QuickBooks and send what the books tell me to then my accountant makes sure there is nothing overlooked at the end of the year.

Agreed, that 2 million will be gone and they'll have to sell all their $400 swords back to the pawn shop for $10.
