Does sound kinda bada$$ and either ferarri or porche would be a good description. Definitely not sounding like the 370Z w/exhaust it was there for a while, but I was hoping the headers would be loud enough to drown out the turbos (sleeper and all), but I'm not displeased. My vote is still for catman's as the best sounding, but he may just have a really good mic on his camera (couldn't resist the dig).

Thanks for the compliment again. I do say yours is pretty sweet too. Now just get that PSI turned up a bit and let her rip.......

Yes, can't wait to start putting the boost to her. Waiting on more part for my V1.1 version of the scavaging system. It should be here today, but who knows with the weather (snow again). If I get it, then it will get redone this weekend and I'll give it a good test. Hopefully this fixes it so I'm ready when Vince has time the following weekend. I'm dying to get the tune working for 6 and 7.5 psi. Probably going to wait to try 9 psi until March and give Z a chance to hit 420+ RWHP first and me a chance to work on some other tweaks. I've got to get it on the rack and take some real good measurements for Tracey so he can do the costing on the mandrel bent parts.

SCRMING filmed the one. The other was by Dan off his phone. The two that I did are from my Cannon still camera in film mode. Nothing special about any of the MIC's....... No dig issue on my part...........

Despite the snow/ice/cold I managed to get everything I need to finish version 1.2 of the scavenging system. While I'm waiting for the gasket compound to cure a little, I thought I'd post some calculations. It looks like the tubing alone will have about 6 times the volume of the previous setup. With the new flanges having a longer barrel and small resevoir, I'm thinking this may be enough. If not, V2.0 will involve a larger pump.

Okay, finished up and took it for a short run. This seemed to help a lot, but I've still got oil in the exhust pipes. As soon as I can get it on a lift I'll get as much out as I can and do some hard runs on some hills. That's probably the only way I'll know if its doing the job now. The new breather from SC2150 worked like a champ. Looks like the smaller check valve is doing the trick and I'm not getting any blowby/vacuum buildup anymore.

It may take a while to burn all the oil out of the exhaust pipes. I can remember washing exhaust components to try to get the oil out when turbos blew up on the highway trucks.
At least you didn't have THAT problem. |

Thats good to hear. Can someone let me know what the new scavenging unit is? (my apologies if this has already been discussed)

I believe its "scavenging" oil from the crankcase to use for the turbos. I could be totally wrong though and be talking out of my arse.

It is the oil return system that feeds the oil back to the crankcase after it passes through the turbos.

Turbos need oil for cooling and to lubricate the bearings. When using Journal bearings the demand for oil is high, but with ball bearings, and particularly cermaic ball bearings, the demand is low. There are two ways to provide this oil. You can do a stand alone system or use the crankcase oil. In our case (and most kit systems) we used crankcase oil. The problems that arise are getting the right amount of oil to the turbos (typically this is accomplished by restricting the flow) and returning it after it passes through the turbos. The supply side is pressurized (same as the crankcase), but the return side is not. When you mount turbos up high, gravity is usually sufficient to return this oil to the crankcase. When you mount them low, you need to pump it back. The change I made was to increase the diameter of all the fittings and hoses for getting the oil back to the pump. We went with 1/4 in. hoses and -6 AN fittings to begin with thinking that we had restricted the input side enough. That was too small. If this doesn't work we can increase the stuff on the return side of the pump, further restrict the supply side or get a bigger pump. I'm also thinking of putting a check valve on the supply side to bring the pressure down (already ordered it) to a max of 25 psi.
Hope that helps.
