If your claiming that you don't get the "Wow factor" and your parents are paying/paid for the car than you guys are probably used to being spoiled. Looks like you don't appreciate what you have. I wasn't fortunate enough to be born in a family that has the ability to do those types of things. We live below poverty, There is no food in my fridge and we don't get food stamps in till next week, and theres 5 kids. But I'm still happy as long as I got my loving mother that try's so hard, and family. It's hard everyday but life ain't easy right. My point is just appreciate what you have, Cause others aren't lucky enough. I get the "Wow factor" every single time I see a Camaro.

PS: I'm 18

and you right i got use to the 426HP, that why my camaro has over 500HP now. still you use some more
Yes, my dad just sold his 750 hp 911 Turbo a month ago and ordered a new 911 Turbo S and I've driven one of his best friends 1500 hp Z06 on the highway, slightly even got on it so I know what a fast car is like can't wait to go back to Turkey and drive the new 911. I'm just saying we young Camaro owners are extremely lucky to have this car at this age and shouldn't be complaining about no wow factor.

My father has worked EXTREMELY hard his whole life to build our company up to what it is and could have easily afforded to hand me a car when I turned 16, or 17 or 18. He instead chose to have me maintain a job, save money, and finance my own vehicle. Hmmm, I guess he doesn't love me. (or maybe he wanted me to appreciate the car and what I had to do for it, and the value of working hard.) It was a 97 Sunfire, and at age 17, THAT four banger had "wow factor" and trust me I have been in many fine cars. I have no problems with kids being given cars as long as they appreciate them and don't take them for granted.

I agree, how dare he decide the best thing for you was to start at an early age the lessons required to be a self sufficient individual. Can't believe he didn't love you enough to change your diapers till you were 30 and give you everything you whined for. Sounds as though he saw no need to compensate for the lack of time and affection he should have given as you were growing up. The ability to truely appreciate the things one works hard to obtain on their own. Your father was amonster. Should have called Child Protective Services.

try working for a car and saving money instead of your parents just giving you a $30k or $40k car at your age. I got mine right after I turned 20, PAID FOR IT ALL BY MYSELF and am proud I did it by myself. My parents could have bought me it straight out, but then I would be probably making comments like some of the spoiled kids are!

Dude the thread went into oblivion without inference and was dead and buried. You gotta understand something, for right or wrong it seems like a lot of forum members don't like hearing about someone young getting a Camaro bought for them by a parent. Call this jealousy which, it probably is but you got to understand what your walking into as the OP on threads like this.

OP, happy birthday and enjoy the car. You might be 18, but there's no feeling like feeling like you're 18 (or in my case, 12) being behind the wheel of a car like this.

I'm glad you are enjoying your car.

BTW, from the original Subject Line I thought you were going to say you were older and felt 18 again.

P.S. Your Camaro is a chick magnet; if I was 18 again...
Ahh yess...chick magnet!

Ahhh, to be 18 again. I'm a few days away from my 28th birthday and was just recently contemplating the past decade. I remember my first car, a 1991 Buick Century. What a beastly car. Yes it was given to me by my folks. I had to pay insurance and maintenance though. It came with 238000km on the odometer.

I beat the hell out of that car. Insurance/maintenance were dirt cheap and since I never actually paid for it, I really didn't appreciate the value of it. Was all fun and games 'till I blew out the tranny and killed the engine during one fantastic excursion down an ATV trail... Then I wised up real fast. Bought a beater with a working powertrain, swapped it out and began to take real good care of my car. I even managed to put another 150K on that engine before the chassis finally crapped out.

After the car died I finally had to face reality and work for my next car.

8 years later I am finally financially stable enough to afford an SS.

Appreciate your gift OP (and you other youngins ITT). You are fortunate to be in that position. Just don't do what I did and take it for granted. It could be a long while until you get to enjoy a nice car again.

BTW, Happy birthday!
