Deadline for ordering

Does anyone know when the dead line would be for ordering a 2012 ZL1?

When the last one is gone.

Not a smart-alec answer, but the best one I have. Some of the dealers that are marking them up may have a few after they're already on the roads, but the dealers at MSRP are already getting scarce. I bet you can still find one if you're willing to call around to other states in the medium to large cities.

Is that beautiful '67 in the sig yours or was it in the past? I think I saw that one on Ebay a few years ago. I wanted it. Gorgeous car.

No, The reason I ask is because I have a deposit at two different dealers locally. One I am highly pissed off at because of the mark up of 10k when I went to order it. I've had a deposit on it since February and no word of mark up till last week. The other tells me that GM isn't taking any orders yet so I'm a little confused at when the last day of ordering would be. I plan on playing the waiting game on the first car to see if they will drop the 10k mark up price. If not, legally they can't sell it unless I pull my deposit. The second one I will take if they can get it, no mark up.

The '67 is a car that me and a good friend restored back in 2000-02 that passed away three years ago, it's never been up for sale. My daughter has already claimed it to be hers so it probably will never be for sale. Thanks for the coment.

The deadline will be whenever the last run of orders can be made as per a normal Camaro. Someone might correct my date, but I think this is sometime in late June. The problem is you don’t know when each dealer will be able to order and they must order within a given timeline once their allocation becomes available to order. One dealer might be able to order in January and one might have to wait until June but they will both be able to place the orders for the allocations received. With an SS you can decide when to order, with the ZL1 you have to wait for GM to decide.

You need to find out (or maybe you already know) if the second dealer has an allocation for a 2012 ZL1 or not. They will know if they do. If not you will not be able to order one from him – period. He is correct in saying GM is not accepting orders yet.

So if both dealers have an allocation and you have a deposit at both for 2012 cars I’d just wait for the second dealer to place your order. If you are confident in the allocation of the second dealer just cut ties with the first IMO.

The first dealer had a 10k offer over MSRP from another customer but I had my deposit down first and they're only getting one. This is why I'm being hit for the 10k. The second is not 100% sure they are getting a third allocation but took a deposit from me just in case they do. As soon as I have one locked in from the second dealer I'll drop the other or better yet tell them to make me an offer on my spot.

Have all of the allocations been distributed? If not, when will the last one be sent?

Each dealer should already know the number of allocations they will receive for 2012. What they do not know is when GM will pick their order(s) up.

.

My dealer also promised MSRP and I was #1 on his list for six months.

He went back on his word and asked for "at least 5k over."

I gave him some free advice and walked out, and have since found another dealer who has placed an order for me at MSRP.

Call every dealer you can find until you get one who has an allocation and wants to sell at MSRP. At worst you might have to pay a few hundred dollars to have the car professionally shipped to you from out of state.

Good luck.

Tell the guy that offered the dealer 10K (to snatch it away from you no less) that you will take 5K to back out of the deal leaving him with the allocation, then go and find yourself another dealer.

the plant switch over is in june or july I do believe if it is like the corvette. So the deadline of the last concensus period is either may or june I can't remember which.

So if a dealership had an aloction May would probabaly be the deadline.

there are still alocation out there you may have to travel or have a car delivered though. All my local dealers pretty much sucked so I am in oregon picking up in AZ.

There were some forum posters here that recently gave some names of dealers in the country that were selling the ZL1 at MSRP. Scroll down a bit and look over some of the posts over the past week or so. Start calling up and see what comes up. Good luck I think you can find some dealers out of state, and just pay the courtesy dealer fee.
