Time to rally the troops! I am a skeptic, prove it to me with a fair and non-biased comparison and I may re-consider.

Don't know about damage control? It seems most guys on here plan on sticking with their order. I think GM is just letting everyone know this is going to be a fight.
As of right now the ZL1 is king for 2012 and fellow GM guys have fun eating Mustangs in your ZL1 . I just wish the ZL1 came out a in January so we could enjoy even more time before we see some real competition from Ford. |

Why didn't Al O direct this letter to Camaro5 members instead of one single member?

Because Camaro5 is NOT the only forum geared towards the 5th gen camaro, although we might be the most active. I am sure every camaro forum site is probably seeing the same kind of troubling "ours is no longer bigger, I want something else, how could you let this happen" posts from people who have little faith in being patient until it hit the streets.

Maybe true, but don't forget you also have to raise hp numbers for vette and cts-v accordingly..... I saw an interview with Shelby and he stated as long as he was alive, his goal would be to produce a 1,000 hp Mustang.... Shelby is definitely headed that way....

I hope (TOP GEAR, UK) gets a chance to test both Camaro ZL1 and the GT 500. That will be a fun show..

The letter is a little bit of both sides. It is to help calm the niche market who will be purchasing this car with words of track ready and such. It it also true damage control. No way did GM ever anticipate that Ford would drop a bomb like they did. The timing could not have been better for Ford or worse for GM.
I give props that for pushing out that letter but, then again what choice did they have. Every forum has large threads crying foul and OMG and whatever else. |

I agree we have to focus more on Shelby and not M3, Audi etc. I have been reading posts all over the internet and outside of muscle car guys most people think this war is a joke. Chevy needs to forget about competing with the Euro cars! People who buy M3s, Audi, etc will NEVER buy a Mustang/Camaro unless its just to dog them out.

I was a mustang guy for many years and so far, you get more for your money with the camaro. 70 hp more is not a big deal that you cant take care with a good cold air intake and tuning.
