Snidely, I just came across your post this evening. After going through all of the following posts, did you ever get the answer(s) you were looking for?
I carry all of the time, and have a holster "permanently" mounted in my Camaro. I mounted a Blackhawk Serpa retention holster ( http://www.blackhawk.com/Products/Ho...te-Finish.aspx) onto a piece of aluminum. This piece of aluminum is about 4 inches wide, and custom cut in length to fit under the edge of the center console and wedge tightly against the floor. To help hold it in place, I added a strip of 3M tape to the top.
I have it positioned right under my right leg, with the pistol butt forward.
With the metal painted black, the holster being black, and the pistol being black, in a black interior, no one has ever seen my mount (unless I have pointed it out to them).
Hope this might help.

Old post but I've always used a fabric holster wedged between seat and console covered with a hat or hand towel.. thought about right kick panel but never done it.. I keep my small carry on me all the time but it's hard to get when your sitting belted in so this solves the problem. Wintertime shoulder harness works good also..
