Self made Gas Cap Cover

I hate the simple, body color gas cap. I ordered the chrome cover, but against my black finish, it was just too much (the cover is just so big, the chrome dominated).

So I painted the chrome cover black satin. That turned out to be a little too subtle.

So finally I glued a few tiny bolts around the outside edge.

I think this is the perfect balance

What do you think?

Nice job making that work...I am looking to get one of these for my CGM, but I was going to get the brushed nickel one.

Thanks for the compliments..

I first tried sanding the chrome to make it look like brushed nickel. It worked, but the contrast with the black was still too much. The cap is so large, and the finish clashed with the polished wheels.

It took the black satin paint very well. We'll see how the $1.29 nut caps hold up considering they're currently stuck there only with super glue!

That's funny. We did the same thing today w/ super glueing the tiny bolts on our gas cap chrome piece that I have on my car. Going to take a picture in a few. I'll post it and show you. We thought it was a great idea and our piece we didn't like seeing the yellow though it. Yours looks great.

68/10, I REALLY like that! Is it a stick on? Obviously I don't have an SS, but where did you get that?!

I got it at Camaroparts.com they have two others. I just liked this one. And they are stick on. I haven't seen anyone else yet. But, like us we thought of the same thing.
