Are you a young Camaro driver?
In reading this board, and looking around the web, I've been amazed at how many young people are getting their hands on the Camaro. Let's take the insurance company view and define young as under 25.
I'm wondering how many young people drive Camaros on this forum, and how many of them have had an accident, ding, or totaled their Camaro? I'm 36, and while I love my Camaro, I really believe that this car is fast, has greatly reduced visibility, and this combination makes it more difficult to drive than a lot of more conventional cars. Add to that the amazing good looks and you have a tendency to show off too. So if you are young, tell me what your experience has been driving the Camaro, and please be honest. I'm just curious. |

I'm 23. I work very hard for my car, so I know how much I need to respect it. I've had it since September last year, no accidents just a little curb rash on my front right wheel while parallel parking. I've been driving since I was 16, so 7 years. I also own a 2003 rav4.
Many times I've had friends in the car, and I get the "if this car was mine, it wouldn't have wheels anymore" speech. My reply is always the same, "yeah, that is why it isn't yours". You abuse it, you lose it. It's okay to have fun you just need to know whats acceptable and where and when to do it. I think if you were to compare people who pay for their own car, with people who are privileged enough to have one given to them, you'll see a sharp rise in the carelessness factor, especially as the age gets younger.

I'm 23. I pay for my own and take care of it like the dream car that it is. I've been driving since I was 18 and have never been in an accident and have never received a citation **knock on wood**. There have been a few times where I've almost been hit by crazy drivers, though. This car has to last me through school (and longer), so it's my responsibility to take care of her.

I'm 21. I just bought my 2011 Victory Red 2LT/RS A6 on Monday. I paid for it with my own money and I am paying the insurance on my own. I plan on keeping her through the rest of college and more than likely won't let her go. The car turns heads everywhere you go. If you want the car then get it, because if you settle you won't be happy.

I still consider myself young at 30 years old, and so far she is 100% scratch free. I can almost say the same thing about my 04 Ram that I bought new, but it's been to the woods a few time's so it has some "character marks" from that- but I've never crashed it.

Im 22.
First car was a 71 Nova Sold that and got something I could drive everyday which was a 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Put a lift, tires, the whole deal which helped me raise its value quite substantially. Bought a 68 Camaro SS Sold the Wrangler, bought a 2010 Camaro SS. Knock on wood, no accidents, no speeding tickets yet... Edit: Also bought a van with my band mates, that we constantly beat up and do stupid things with....its a Ford though so its ok. |

I'm 17 and I've had my Camaro since Nov.19th 2009. I drive it everyday and I currently have about 12900 miles on her. No dings, scratches, accidents, or tickets.

I always see these and wonder if in your childhood you stayed in a bubble? I'm more than willing to say you would have done anything to drive a camaro...

22. First car I bought was a SIM M6 1LT/RS Camaro. Recently graduated in May and have a job. I thought now is the time to get something while I am young before kids/family "ruin" the party.

as for your second part, yes, the car is more difficult to drive. i think one of the main reasons mine is still in good shape is because i had a huge accident with my old car (1995 maxima) and it was a very humbling experience, but a learning one as well. i was 19 at the time and honestly have not driven the same since (and thats a good thing) |

I consider myself young at 26. I waited until after 25 to buy a pony car; insurance being a reason.
I have a SG 2SS/RS with M6/LS3. It costs just over $1000 a year to insure. My 2004 GMC Canyon Crew Z71 is running me $840/year. I got it new as well. |

26 pay all the bill associated with the car. Haven't been in an accident since 2006 which wasn't caused by me. My camaro is in near perfect condition and it's my dd.
