So dealers are telling customers GM says to void the warranty? It's costing them too much money to replace the transmissions? WTF, tell GM to take it out of all the excess profits dealers are making by selling for over MSRP! They can't engineer a drivetrain that will stand up to the output of the engine?

I have a 2SS/RS manual on order with a TPW of 8/31. I've followed this website for months. This crap scares the heck out of me. I can't believe my main concern is whether GM will deliver a lemon.

The drivetrain is supposed to be fine except for that one part breaking from not being made right. IMO, Tremec should be reimbursing GM for each repair.

Best to keep the drivetrain stock until you are sure that your tranny can take the stock performance.

You add on a blower--and damn right your drivetrain warranty can and should be voided. You completely changed the power output, the tune, the fuel injection, everything.

HOWEVER to say the blower was the cause when its obvious that there is a known problem attributing the cause to metallergy errors is indeed B.S.

I REALLLY want to get this car up to like 600HP...but I'm hesitant to do anything because I don't have the [spare] cash flow that I had before and subsequently don't want to throw away that drivetrain warranty.

Picked up Friday two weeks ago after they installed new transmission out of bad batch. Gm had them check the serial number after it was installed. I told them I would baby it. Took it back in Monday and picked up Tuesday with second new transmisson.

Took it back in today because grinding with hard acceleration. They said motor was torqued over and oxygen sensor hit transmission output/drive shaft connection. They turned the header for clearance. Seems OK now.

Still grumbling about warranty. I explained why I ran a stainless braided fuel line to get the the stock line loop away from the header heat and not part of nitrous system.

Ok...so you had the original transmission replaced, and the replacement also broke; and now you're on a third tranny where you are experiencing grinding when you shift while accelerating?

The second did not break. Gm told them to check the serial number before I picked it up and said out of the bad batch. I did not do any hard launches until third transmission put in. Day after picked up noticed grinding sound at hard launch. Took it in and they had not positioned my header properly and oxygen sensor was rubbing when motor torqued over. No problems now.

No grinding or warning on breaking of first transmisson. It took about twelve hard launches with and without traction control, stablilty control and competition mode. Broke in competition mode when clutch release on 4,200 rev limiter.

I will not use competition mode ever again.

the replacement part broke? well i am glad you are stomping on your car and making sure they fixed it, from the sound of 12 launches you did it would have happen again in a few months with a normal driver that stomps on it once in a while, keep testing and break it all you want while its under warranty, you paid good money for that car and they need to get it working right and reliable!

Well beings as you are a fanboy for the Mustang who loves to get your digs in and heap on a post with Camaro's apparent problems

I will state emphatically that Chevrolet has to replace a known problem part. And the car should perform in stock form as advertised and if that means launch control so be it--with a stock SS off the assembly line. Replace the part for the known serial problems, but after the first one yer done for modified cars. I think GM owes nothing to a guy who has modded his car above and beyond what was stock after the known problem part was replaced. Further failures are from abuse of the car plain and simple

These cars are not race cars, if you want one, then you have to pay to play. I think a guy who puts 15k into his engine should think about the drivetrain and go to someone like EMCO or at the very least a Tremec race trans specialist, plus be thinking axles and beefing up the rear end. Its what I had to do with my 69 when I decided to race the damn thing

See I disagree to an extent. While I don't condone someone with excessive mods making a claim on a drivetrain part that was obviously directly effected by the part...I don't agree that a dealer can deny warranty work for a car (especially on a known problem) just because there are also modifications on the car.

We shouldn't have to *****foot around in our cars and avoid using features that came with our cars to stay within the work load of a mismatched transmission.
