My black SS came in without any paint issues that I can find.

Originally I wasn't going to allow the dealer to wash the car so I would be the first to do so.. However there is no way that is going to happen after reading this. I'm really going to have to inspect the car with a fine toothed comb before signing it away..

where have you been?

first ~2500 vins were held up for like 2-3 months.......... #1691 was picked up about 10 days ago

I bought a brand new 2007 black Corvette in March 2007. Took delivery on a rainy night b/c was too excited to wait till the next day and have them detail it. I took it home, put it in the garage and washed it myself only to find the ENTIRE car covered in overspray. Not a little bit, a ton of it. All body panels, windows, lights, everywhere.
Wow I thought I had it bad with my Z. I had it 4 times to the dealer because it was leaking from all 4 corners of the hardtop, they even had to replace the windshield. Any car no matter what brand can be a crapshoot, just gotta roll with the punches.

I can't make up my mind whether or not I'm going to get them fixed. In one sense I feel like I'm being overly picky, but on the other hand the purchase of this car was a huge financial undertaking.

What would you guys do?

Russ
I thought my blemishes were under the clearcoat... but then.... while applying Zaino..... the polish would leave a "comet-trail" when I passed over the spots.

So I attacked them with Z-AIO (wich has a mild abrasive)...... with no luck.

Keep in mind that these are small spots (~1/8" diamater) that you dont see the first time you look over the car. The only people that noticed mine was me and my freind that works in an auto-body shop that is doing some work for me.

They do get annoying ..... seeing them while appliing each coat of Zaino.... b/c I get at about every possible view angle from the paint when I am polishing the car

Hope you get your GFX fixed soon though, it might take the edge off.

BINGO. This was a MAJOR issue on Corvette several years ago. In fact my Arctic White 99 vette had it bad. GM/Chevy published a TSB. Turns out I/WE were able to get it out with a good Clay Bar and after several coats of ZAINO the paint looked flawless. I sold the car to a club buddy and to this day (over 10 years old) the paint and finish still look marvelous.

Ask them to try a Clyy Bar followed by some ZAINO. It's far cheaper that some of the other options being offered and may actually solve the problem.

Go get yourself another Toyota and while you're at it open up a new checking account in Japan which is were you should be living.

Will have to repaint

They aree going to have to repaint. I found another car at a different dealership and my dealership will let me out of mine. It wasnt the dealers fault it must have gotten hydrolic fluid from shipping or something. It had at least a hundred spots on it. I will pick up the new one tomorrow wish me luck.

You are correct, and that is why GM has traditionally done so much better than the competition in dealership satisfaction surveys.

I was objecting to the post that automatically stated that GM blew it because the dealer didn't immediately do something.

You can't go back in time and fix shipping damage or who knows what may have happened to this car.

But if what he wants is to have the car with the early VIN AND have it have a factory paint job his options are few. Reordering won't fix that nor will repainting.

I am just frustrated with all the negativity on this site which I thought was a Camaro and by default, GM, enthusiast site.

Often, it is not.
